THIRTY– THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
From the Pastor’s Desk
Grace and Peace to my St. Elizabeth Ann Seton family!
How speedily the year is flying! Wasn’t it just Summer? The days seem to be getting colder and darker fast, and we are already moving forward this week to Thanksgiving Day! Don’t get me wrong; I love Thanksgiving! I love the gathering of family and friends! I love the sharing of old times and new tradi-tions! But already??? I admit, I most especially love Thanksgiving when we do it right, and actually, consciously Give Thanks To God. And let us remember that the only way to thank God properly on Thanksgiving Day is to thank Him on every other day as well - joyously and without end. God gives us everything, every minute of our lives and every ounce of our being. ALL GOOD THINGS COME FROM GOD. Our gifts are given to us by God for a reason, and to be properly thankful, we must appreciate the gifts He gives us, and use them as He has intended us to use them. Not to hoard them for ourselves or to bury them away, but to use them to make peoples’ lives better! In our Gospel today, Jesus tells the parable of a business man who entrusts his talents to his servants while he is away. Talents were valuable coins, worth very many shekels, and he portioned them out according to each servant’s ability. While he was away, it was expected that his servants would be industrious and would use the money to earn their master more money. The first two did so and were greatly rewarded. The third did absolutely nothing with his coin. Perhaps he was lazy, or perhaps too afraid of failure to risk success, but he buried his talent, and returned it to his master unused, unchanged, as if he had never received it in the first place. A gift unused is a gift wasted, and his master punished him for having re-fused the responsibility. In order to show our thanks to God, let us share our “talents” with others! Let us assist people, support them, enliven and raise them up! We can do this in many ways. For instance, today, November 19th, is the due date for donating supplies to assist in making the parish Thanksgiving Baskets for our neighbors in need. (This was detailed in last week’s STEAS Bulletin.) If you would like to contribute a turkey or other fixings, please contact Mary Ann O’Connor directly at (631) 737-4416. We can also show our thanks by joining the parish family at the Thanksgiving Mass on Thursday morning 9:00am. Share in giving your praise to God have some of your Thanksgiving Meal blessed as well. I wish I could be there with you, but I am still recovering from foot surgery. It won’t be long now, though! I miss my St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church family very much, and as your pastor, I offer up every minute for you! Let us give thanks to God for our lives and for our families and friends. Let us thank God by serving one another with the gifts He has given us. Let us thank God by having true faith in Him. Jesus, I trust in you! Thank you for our beloved parish!
Blessings and Peace,
Fr. Kevin Thompson

Parish Outreach Ministry Pantry: THANK YOU to all who donated the needed non-perishable food items that Outreach request-ed. Thank you for showing Jesus’ love to others by reaching out to individuals who are strug-gling to meet their necessary daily needs. It is only through your generosity and kindness that Outreach can do the work it does by helping those in need. Community Service: Outreach could use assistance with organizing Thanksgiving packages. If any Confirmation candidate is in need of community service hours, please contact Mary Ann O’Connor at Outreach, 631-737-4416. THANK YOU & GOD BLESS

Prayer Blanket Ministry Meetings are held on Saturdays from
9:30am to 12:30pm. Contact Janice by email: [email protected]
Next meeting is Saturday, December 2nd ,
2017 New members are always welcome. Come join this exciting ministry—we create prayer blankets,
lap robes, baby blankets, preemie hats, Christmas stockings, “pink scarves”, etc. and donate them to
various organizations, nursing homes, etc. We also share ideas, patterns and offer instruction for any-one wishing to learn to knit or crochet or brush up on their skills. For more information call the Parish Outreach. If you have yarn to donate, we will gladly
accept it and use it. Thank you!
PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING We are looking for young adults around the ages of 18 to 25 to join us at Youth Group as small group leaders. Youth group meets every other Friday from 7pm to 9pm from Octo-ber to early June. This is our 5th year and we have about 40 steady members. Many of the successful YG's devote the first 15 minutes of the meeting to small groups. It consists of one young adult leader and about 4 or 5 members. The idea behind this is that this group becomes a comfortable place for our young members to share experiences with the others in the group and form a bond where they feel safe to discuss issues they may not feel comfortable sharing with a larger group. Since our YG consists of grades 6 through 12, with some college students also involved, we would like the small groups to be all the same grade. This way the children start the meeting with their own age group and then we all interact together. We have been extremely fortunate to have our col-lege age kids as great role models for our younger ones, and it is amazing to me to see such a wide range of ages all par-ticipating in games and events together! If you are interested please contact Joy Milillo at [email protected] or (home) 631-585-0938 or (cell) 631-664-4915

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The 11th Annual Christmas Raffle has begun!!
Last years winner collected $10,725. This year we will split the prize among 2 lucky winners!
With your continued support, we can make this the best
Christmas raffle yet!
Raffles will be sold in the rear of the Church after each Mass up until the day of drawing.
This is a major fund raiser for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
Drawing will be held on Sunday, December 17th after the 12 Noon Mass.
You have to be in it to win it!!
We need your help to reach our goal. Let’s welcome our new bishop, The Most Reverend John Barres, and our new pastor Fr. Kevin, by making a pledge to this years
Catholic Ministries Appeal for a successful CMA campaign. The programs and services supported by the Appeal have a significant
impact on hundreds of thousands of parishioners throughout our Diocese **Supporting the Catholic Ministries Appeal gives each of us a remarkable opportunity to “show mercy to others” and touch the lives of so many who are in our family of faith and in our community—a neighbor in need of food or shelter, a young man or woman finding their way to God through our youth or campus ministry programs, or a deacon or seminarian studying to serve in our Diocese.
Thanks to the generosity of 194 of our parish families, we have received over 42,762 in pledges to this year’s Catholic Ministries Appeal. The bad news is that last year at this time we had received over 45,000 from 192 families. So we have a long way to go to reach that total. The good news is we have over 3,000 families in our parish and we still have 3 months left in this years campaign to make and complete new pledges. So we have the potential to not only reach our goal of $51,100 but we can surpass last year’s total of $51,256. In a world of so many troubles, it’s easy to feel like there is nothing we can do to make a difference. But we can help feed the hungry. We can see that our seniors are provided with services and shelter. We can provide guidance through troubled times. We can make sure that no one feels alone. If you have not already made a donation to this year’s appeal you can make a difference. Please support the ministries of our diocese & parish by making a pledge to the Catholic Ministries Appeal. Please participate!! We need everyone’s help!! To make a pledge, simply fill out the form below and place it in the collection basket or mail it back to the parish office. No down payment is necessary. The diocese will send monthly reminders. To help you decide here are some sug-gested gift plans:
$90 pledge = $30 per month $60 pledge = $20 per month
One time payment = any amount
Whatever you are able to give, large or small will be accepted gratefully. For more information or to make an online donation you go to the CMA website at www.CatholicMinistriesAppeal.org Thank you for your support & continued generosity.
