Dear Parents of Children making their First Holy Communion at St. Dominic Savio Parish, This year the First Holy Communion of your child will be celebrated at part of a Sunday Mass and not during a separate special Mass. You as a family can choose the date and the time of the Mass. Choose from the following possible dates and times: Sunday, July 5th at 8:00 am (Spanish) 10:00 am (English) 11:30 am (English) 1:00 pm (Spanish) 5:30 pm (English) 7:00 pm (Spanish) Saturday, July 11th at 5:30 pm (English) 7:00 pm (Spanish) Sunday, July 12th at 8:00 am (Spanish) 10:00 am (English) 11:30 am (English) 1:00 pm (Spanish) 5:30 pm (English) 7:00 pm (Spanish) Parents: you must contact the RES office if you were in the RES program or call the school (if you were prepared as part of Savio’s third grade class) and reserve the day and the Mass you’ve chosen for your children’s First Holy Communion. This is important for us to correctly prepare your child’s First Holy Communion Certificate. First Confessions for First Holy Communion students will be the following times: Saturday, June 27th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am 11:00 am to 12:15 pm 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm First Confessions will be in the Parish Hall. Those waiting for confession must wait outside the Hall. You can bring a chair if do not want to wait standing up. Because of the Covid-19 virus this and all our Masses (including those with First Holy Communions) are being celebrated outside in the parking lot underneath the solar panels of St. John Bosco High School. There is no limit to the number of family members and friends you invite to attend. Everyone, however, must bring their own chair and wear a mask. Health guidelines require that we keep social distance when we are with people who do not live in the same household. First Holy Communion children will sit with their families and will receive communion when their parents and other family members receive communion. There will be no procession of children entering or leaving. Families may take photos of their children receiving communion. After Mass, families can take their own family photos. There will be no group photos of all the First Holy Communion children.

• Favor esperar afuera y traer su propia silla para que no tengan que esperar parados. Por el COVID 19, todas nuestras misas (incluyendo las de la primera comunión) las celebraremos afuera en el estacionamiento de San Juan Bosco bajo los paneles solares. No hay limite por el numero de personas que pueden participar. Pero todos necesitan traer su propia silla y utilizar una máscara. Seguir las regulaciones del CDC y mantener la distancia social cuando no son personas que viven bajo el mismo techo. Los niños que recibirán la primera comunión se sentarán con sus padres y recibirán al mismo tiempo que sus padres. No habrá procesión, familias pueden tomar las fotos de sus hijos recibiendo la primera comunión, después de misa las familias pueden tomar sus propias fotos, y no habrá una foto grupal de todos los que recibieron la primera comunión.

to learn about new things in life and as you read together with your children it can help to strengthen your relationship with them and learn about their emotions or concerns, especially during this time of COVID-19. “Worries, fears, and

anxieties are all dragons that sneak up on most of us at one time or another,” says the introduction to the book “You’ve got dragons,” authored by Kathryn Cave. “It is the perfect read-aloud story for young children whose fears can sometimes get the better of them.” Among books recommended by the American Psychological Association (APA) are: “A feel better book for little worriers,” and “My wandering dreaming mind,” both in English, and “Respira con facilidad,” in Spanish. Saint Dominic Savio He is the patron saint of our Parish. He is a saint at nearly 15 years of age. He was educated by Saint John Bosco (also known as Don Bosco) at the Oratory of Saint Francis de Sales. For Saint Dominic Savio, holiness consists of being cheerful and doing one’s ordinary du es, extraordinarily well. His Feast Day is on May 6.
