Mass Schedule November 24/25

ROADMAP NEWS- November 2018 Project Roadmap (a life skill, networking and educational program) is off to a great start this year! A special thank you to Mary McBride from Beneficial Bank for taking the time to discuss Credit Repair at our October class of 30 people! We almost had to cancel the class because the original presenter bowed out at the last minute. So, thank you Mary for saving the day – God loves you and so do we! We have a new topic and a new presenter for November’s class on Holiday Anxiety and Depression. Linda Werner, MSW, LCSW, will be sharing her in-sights about why the holiday season is so difficult for many peo-ple, where to go for affordable help, talk therapy vs. medication and how to recognize when someone you know needs help. Class will be on Saturday November 24th from 9:00am-10:00am in the school. Enter through the pantry doors and someone will show you up to the classroom. Those who attend will receive a $10 gift card to Giant and will be the first on line for the pantry when the class is over. But keep in mind that the classes are open to anyone, so even if you’re not an approved SVDP pantry member, you’re welcome to attend. Call Lori Salvatore at (215) 657-0476. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Ever Ancient, Ever New- Reflections for the Advent Season As Advent once again begins our liturgical year of recurring feasts and celebrations, Kathy McGovern, author of the popular weekly scripture col-umn The Story and You which appears in many parish bulletins in both English and Spanish (visit thestory-andyou.com), offers daily reflections on the threefold themes of Advent—Christ has come, Christ now lives in us, and Christ will come again. These thoughtful

meditations and helpful prayer starters are perfect to use at church before or after Mass, at home or anytime you want to pray.

Advent: Prepare the Way of the Lord An Advent Key tag This small and durable plastic key tag slips on to any key ring with a reminder to pray and contemplate during the days of Advent. Features a quote from Isaiah 40:3 on the back. A great handout for the Advent season and beyond.

Available in the narthex while supplies last.

Explaining the Mass: The Introductory Rites NEXT SUNDAY, after the 9:00 and 11:15 Masses Every month we offer a brief 20-minute teaching on the Mass. This month, Keith McClain will speak on the beginning of the Mass, those Introductory Rites. From making the Sign of the Cross through the Col-lect, what do we do and why do we do it? We will gather right after Mass in the pews near the Altar. A better understanding of the Mass helps us participate in it more fully.

Aid For Friends sends a big thank you to all of the people who cooked turkeys, stuffing and mashed potatoes, and to the 75

volunteers of all ages who helped assemble the Thanksgiving meals on Sunday, November 11th. We made over 1,100 meals!!! Please mark your calendars for next year! Save the date of November 10, 2019.

Thanksgiving Mass November 22nd- It has been a tradition at St. Catherine’s that loaves of bread have been blessed and distributed after Mass for parishioners to share at their Thanksgiving tables. This year the

bread is again being provided by Tom and Chris Abraham. As you give thanks this year for the many blessings in your life, we ask that you think of those less fortunate and make a donation to SVDP Society.

Christmas Remembrance Of Our Children Who Have Died- During the Christmas season, we are continuing our tradition of remembering our children and babies whom we have lost. With the help of our CYO and PREP students, an ornament with each child’s name will be designed and displayed on Christmas trees in the back of the church. If you would like an ornament made this year to remember a child important to you or your family, please send an email to [email protected] with the child’s name. Please include a contact name, telephone number and an email address. After New Year’s Day, please take your ornament off the tree. It is yours to keep. Each year a new ornament will be made so we ask you to please take your ornament home each year.

Each course is a 3 hour class with hands-on training. Classes include Heartsaver (layperson), and Healthcare Provider level instruction. Contact Doug Levy at 267-994-8065 or [email protected]. Exciting news about our parish youth group! St. Catherine’s youth group (J.A.M.) is going to join St. David is Willow Grove and Our Lady Help of Christians in Abington to form a regional youth group, not only for high school students but for junior high students as well. This will work well with the fact that the typical age for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation in all three parishes is moving to 7th grade in 2019. The group that St. Catherine is joining is called E.P.I.C. (Everything Possible In Christ). The priests of the three parishes have joined together to begin the search for a full-time youth minister to head the ministry. We hope to be up and running sometime in early 2019. Please join us on Sunday evening, 11/25 at 6:30pm by the fire pit behind the farmhouse to welcome our new youth partners. S’Mores will be included!

The Saint Catherine of Siena Preschool children enjoyed celebrating Halloween. The preschoolers paraded in cos-tume, over to Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, and did some trick-or-treating and Halloween songs. They also participated in a "Halloween Walk for the Wee Ones." After the walk-a-thon, the little ones enjoyed a special treat of Penn State Creamery Ice Cream, provided by Mr. Tom Abraham. A great time was had by all!
