But the truth is that todays scene is but one moment from the Spirits long presence in salvaon. The spirit of God (ruach) is present at the dawn of creaon, blowing over the chaoc waters as God commands light to be. That same spirit of God filled the prophets of Israel. The spirit of the Lord came upon mefills their witness, as they guided Israel in their quest to be faithful to the loving, merciful God of their covenant. We hear that the Spirit overshadowed Marys womb so that the very Word of God would take on our human flesh. And Jesus begins his ministry in Lukes Gospel by saying the Spirit is upon him. On the cross, according to John, he gives up his spirit. Today Paul tells us that this Holy Spirit is from God, who raised Christ from the dead. We also hear Johns account of the Spirit as the very breath of the risen Christ on his disciples. That same Spirit of all these biblical accounts was there at our bapsm and connues to live in us. We are temples of that Spirit, witnesses to the Spirits grace. And it is in the Holy Spirit that we will connue to live in the gospels light, and to pursue our life of eternal glory in Christ. © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co. COME, HOLY SPIRIT

When we hear “Come, Holy Spirit” we think of today’s story from Acts. But the truth is that today’s scene is but one moment from the Spirit’s long presence in salvation. The spirit of God (ruach) is present at the dawn of creation, blowing over the chaotic waters as God commands light to be. That same spirit of God filled the prophets of Israel. “The spirit of the Lord came upon me” fills their witness, as they guided Israel in their quest to be faithful to the loving, merciful God of their covenant. We hear that the Spirit overshadowed Mary’s womb so that the very Word of God would take on our human flesh. And Jesus begins his ministry in Luke’s Gospel by saying the Spirit is upon him. On the cross, according to John, he gives up his spirit. Today Paul tells us that this Holy Spirit is from God, who raised Christ from the dead. We also hear John’s account of the Spirit as the very breath of the risen Christ on his disciples.

That same Spirit of all these biblical accounts was there at our baptism and continues to live in us. We are temples of that Spirit, witnesses to the Spirit’s grace. And it is in the Holy Spirit that we will continue to live in the gospel’s light, and to pursue our life of eternal glory in Christ. © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

St. Benedict News….

Field Day, a hot air balloon demonstration, and Mary celebrations were at the top of the list last week at Saint Benedict Catholic School. Field Day was a wonderful success with perfect weather topping off the fun. Students competed in events such as the Buddy Walk, Balloon Toss, Chicken Throw and Tug of War. Friday began with the Crowning of Mary. Students brought flowers to decorate Mary's Statue as students sang "Immaculate Mary". Later Friday, a hot air balloon was brought on campus. Students were able to experience the excitement of seeing a hot air balloon prepared for flight. What a great physics lesson. Finally, a Mass to honor Mary topped the day. Saint Benedict string students (violins and guitars) added beautiful music to the celebration. Next week we look forward to a Mass in which we honor all our First Communicants.

If you notice something that needs

cleaning of fixing in the church, parish

hall or grounds, please contact Paulette.

We have someone who handles the

cleaning and maintenance of these

areas.

We will be showing the movie

CONVINCED (Why would

anyone become Catholic?) on

Monday, May 23, at 7:00 PM

in the church hall. Hopefully the announcement

will be made at church and be in the bulletin for

the next 3 weeks. I wanted to be sure you see the

notice. We will be trying to have an adult

program once a month during the summer

months. If you have any suggestions for a “one

and done” program, please let me know. Regards,

Jim Brewer
