“Summertime and the living is easy.” That’s what the
favorite old song says. The living may be easy, but often the giving is not. Summer collections often drop signifi-cantly in our parish because of vacation travel, sports schedules and other activities that cause parishioners to attend Mass in other parishes. If you would like to make your giving easy and consistent this summer, please con-sider our electronic giving option. Currently 16 parish families are using this simple and secure way to make and track their parish giving. If you would like to learn more, please contact Amy at the Parish Office, 724-836-0690.
Save the Date - Our Annual Family Picnic will be held on
Saturday, August 26 beginning at 6 p.m. after our 5 p.m. Mass. All are invited. Please email Amy, [email protected] with the number attending and if you will be bringing a casserole, dessert or a salad.
Interested in sharing your faith this Fall with fellow pa-
rishioners here at Saint Bruno? We would like to start a gathering to discuss our faith, the bible and how we can help our world today. Anyone interested in helping to start this ministry please contact Amy at the Parish Office, 724-836-0690.

LITURGICAL ROLES
THIS WEEK
The Lord’s Laughter
“A joyful heart is a good medicine, but a broken
spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:22
A priest went into a second-grade classroom of the par-ish school and asked, “Who can tell me what the Blessed Trinity means?” A little girl lisped, “The Blethed Twini-ty meanth there are thwee perthonth in one God.” The priest, taken aback by the lisp, said, “Would you say
that again? I don’t understand.” The little girl an-swered, “Y’not suppothed to underthtand ; ‘ t’th a
mythtewy.”
******************* One of the world’s greatest hypochondriacs, bumped
into his Dr. one day at the supermarket. “Doc!” the hypochondriac exclaimed, “I’ve been mean-ing to tell you, remember those voices I kept on hearing
in my head? I haven’t heard them in over a week!” “Wow! What wonderful news! I’m so happy for you!”
his Dr. exclaimed.

WEEKLY MASS SCHEDULE
The Transfiguration
of the Lord
"This is my beloved Son,
with whom I am well
pleased; listen to him."
Oh, to be on that moun-
tain! What a priceless
experience for Peter,
James, and John. If they
had ever doubted, if
they wondered whether
Jesus was really who he
said he was, their confi-
dence surely got a boost
on the day of the Trans-
figuration. Before their
very eyes, Jesus' divine beauty radiated gloriously while
the two ancient prophets also appeared in miraculous
manner. And to top it off, the voice of God the Father
spoke from the heavens and confirmed that it was all
true: Jesus really is the Son of God!
Why did Jesus reveal himself in such a remarkable way
to these men? Perhaps we have an answer in today's
epistle. Peter writes, "We ourselves heard this voice
come from heaven while we were with him on the holy
mountain." Peter mentions this fact in order to confirm
his credibility as a preacher as he goes on to say, "We
possess the prophetic message that is altogether relia-
ble. You will do well to be attentive to it." Because of the
mission that Peter had to help shape and nurture the
Church in its earliest days, his position as an
"eyewitness" to the Transfiguration helped to gain the
attention, and the faith, of his hearers.
So although we were not there during this holy appari-
tion, we have the benefit of it. We, and the faithful
through the ages, have heard the testimony that Jesus
is truly our God from those who saw in person that it
was for real. In this way, the Transfiguration is able to
bolster the faith of many, not just the three men who
were there that day. May we have the grace to allow the
feast we celebrate today to truly deepen our faith.
