From the Pastor’s Desk

I ’LL DO IT: Chances are you’ve heard this one before, but it bears repeating. “This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be

done in the parish and Everybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Any-body could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Every-body’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.” Copyright © 2009, World Library Publications. All rights reserved.

O f course this never happens in your home or business because there is a clear understanding of who is responsible for each task, each job and who will report back when the project is complete. Sadly, we live in a world; we

participate in groups where the aforementioned story is so very true. Everyone assumes that someone will take care of the important job and only a few people actually implement the plan. I am grateful for all the hard working dedicated parishioners who make our parish possible because they say, “Ill do it.”

W e are forever grateful that people listened to Jesus long ago. They listened and followed his invitation to come and follow him, to put down their nets into the water and catch an abundance of fish. The apostles’ cast their nets

into the sea and they caught a great number of fish to feed their families and sell the rest to support the works of that early faith community. They echoed the psalmist words, “Here am I Lord, I come to do your will.”

B ishop Cantu and Bishop McGrath are inviting us to join “Hand in Hand in Ministry” this year to support the works outlined in the Annual Diocesan Appeal brochure. Together we can reach our parish goal, together we can exceed

that goal and support the oak tree project. I am suggesting that everyone consider contributing $450 or more per household this year and we will easily reach our goal. No gift is too small and no gift too great, reflect on what you pledged last year and see what is possible this year. May God bless your hands in the works that you do.

Blessings, Father Larry

Hand In Hand In Ministry, is the theme of the 2019 Annual Diocesan

Appeal, which begins this weekend. Please prayerfully consider pledging your support to your parish and our local Church by contributing to the ADA. Appeal Weekend is this weekend. You should have already received your Annual Diocesan Appeal information. Please consider being as generous as you can and bring your pledge of support with you to Mass in the next few weeks.

Plan Now for Lent, 2019!

Saint Anthony parishioners are invited to join a Lenten small, faith-sharing group! Encourage a friend/family member to join you and sign-up soon for the session that fits your schedule best! • Sunday: 11:45 AM at The Tobias Residence, Almaden (Mollie Tobias, lead) • Monday: 7:00 PM at the McKean church (Sandy Lorion, lead) • Tuesday: 7:00 PM at The Wells Residence, Almaden (Jerry Wells, lead) • Wednesday: 4:00 PM at the McKean church (Patti Rottjakob, lead) • Friday: 6:15 AM at the McKean church (Mollie Tobias, lead) Questions?
