St. Aloysius Parish Mission Statement
St. Aloysius Parish is a Roman Catholic
community dedicated to celebrating the life and
word of Jesus Christ. All are welcome to deepen
their spiritual and personal lives through active
participation in weekly Liturgy, the celebration of
the Sacraments, Parish ministries and community
activities. Acknowledging our incompleteness and
our need for God’s grace, we commit ourselves,
through Baptism, to responding to God’s call to
become and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ in
our time. Jesus Christ is at the center of all of our
lives.

OldZechariah, John’s father, had never had children, so
when his wife gave birth in her advanced age, the relatives
were eager to honor him and carry on his legacy by naming
the child Zechariah Jr. It was a good family name meaning
“God remembers”. Elizabeth wouldn’t have it! Her son,
she knew, wasn’t about the past but was born to lead his
generation into the future. A bold new way deserved a bold
new name, something that hadn’t appeared in this family
before. So the child’s name was John: “God is gracious”.
Identity matters. Sometimes it’s set for life, and some-
times it needs to be reset many times, the way biblical folks
often changed their names in the face of new circumstances.
If your identity feels uncomfortable, it may be time to con-
sider what has to change.
Which aspects of your identity have remained through the
years? Which ones have needed to shift or evolve?
AndthepeoplesaidaboutbabyJohn"What, then, will
this child be"? And St. Luke writes:For surely the hand of
the Lord was with him. The child grew and became strong
in spirit.

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Through Baptism, we become Children of God and
members of the household of faith. Children should be
baptized in the faith community to which their parents
belong, that is, the Parish in which they are registered
and active members. Call the rectory to make
arrangements. Parents are reminded that godparents
must have received the Sacrament of Confirmation and
are actively practicing their faith.
SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION (Penance)
Saturday: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.; and after the 5:30 pm Mass
SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK
Please notify one of the parish priests in the event
of serious illness. Communal celebrations of the
Anointing will be held twice yearly.
FAITH DIRECT
Faith Direct is an electronic alternative to collection
envelopes. Call the rectory for info.
