Work safety in the past was not as good is it is now. There was less policies and the management didn’t do as much to prevent it since it was the workers who were blamed, not the management. Also laws didn’t exist on who was hired and children were hired for dangerous jobs they weren’t trained for.

The Past

Today multiple safety laws and policies are made and in effect. For example children can not be hired to do certain jobs, and injured workers must be paid. Workers must have appropriate PPE for the job they are doing and management must be informed of all accidents and near misses.

THE PRESENT

PPE (personal protective equipment) are things that must be worn for the job you are doing. PPE can include hardhats, safety glasses, work gloves, steel toed boots, ear plugs, and masks needed to keep dangerous fumes out of the person’s body. The reason the workers are required to wear this PPE is to keep themselves from injury or possibly death. It is mandatory that workers where PPE when needed or they can be fired or punished by the management.
