Rasulullah said “If a person sleep on a roof where there is no barricade and he fell down, no body carries the responsibility (except himself). If a person travel in sea in

a bad weather and he loose his life, no body carries the responsibility (except himself)."

Hot Weather

Dehydration due to water loss

Heat Exhaustion can be dangerous

Heat Stress may kill a person

Drink more water. Cola/ Pepsi is not

good and even hazardous to health

Wear loose clothes for ventilation

Wear head covers against sunlight

Eat more vegetables and fruits

Small breaks in resting shelters

Plan work in early hours and late

hours


Environment Protection Be beloved to Allah by maintaining

cleanliness

Do not throw away waste material

Garbage bins & waste skips to be used

House keeping saves from accidents and promotes good health & environment

Do not drain oil & chemicals on ground You or your fellows may slip

This may damage soil and ground water

Dust generation must be avoided

Trees & plants must be protected

Excavation Safety

Excavation may collapse

Safe access must be provided

Material storage away from the edges

Heavy vehicles movement away

Deep excavations might have lack of fresh air or poisonous gases

Rescue must be planned in deep

excavations

Work at Height Fall from height is most serious cause

of accidents on construction projects

Safe scaffold platforms and safe

ladders

Use of safety harness

Training for work at height

Falling objects cause injuries

Protection of tools and material roll over

Area must be barricaded underneath


Ladder Safety Unsafe use of ladder may

cause serious injuries

Check ladder before use

Place at 75 degrees

Hold the ladder to avoid slip

accident

Extend ladder one meter

above the landing point


Chemicals Safety

Risk of personal injury or fire due to unsafe handling

Proper PPE must be used

First aid tips known to workers –Check MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet)

Follow instructions of supervisor

Store chemicals in a safe place

No spill/drain chemicals on soil (Environment Hazard)


Electrical safety

Don’t play with electricity – Be aware what you are going to do

Use appropriate tools

Frequent Inspections of electric equipment

Work permit for energized systems

Lock out/tag out to be followed if applicable

Loose electric connections not allowed

Damaged cables must be replaced

Overloading/tripping is never tolerated


Grounding

Electric shock to worker or fire in absence of grounding

GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) or ELCB (Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker) is provided on electric panels for worker safety

Grounding of all buildings and offices to be ensured

Portable tools/equipment grounding


Hand & Power Tools Unsafe use of tools is dangerous

Utilize proper hand tools

Improvised and damaged tools not

allowed. Replace them

Misuse of tools is unsafe

Trained persons authorized to use power

tools


Grinding Safety

Eye injury, face injury and electric shock is

likely

Trained person only can use grinder

Wear safety glass and face shield

Change damaged disk

Never remove guard

Replace grinder if damaged


Crane Safety Serious accidents may happen

No one is allowed to enter the

area where crane lifting is in

progress

Rigger is only person to instruct/guide the crane operator

Crane operator must operate

crane safely

Crane and lifting equipment

inspections.


Manual Lifting

Back injury is likely during manual lifting

Do not try to lift the heavy load

Ask for help from colleagues

Use your leg muscles

Do not put load on your back muscles

Do not turn with heavy load in hands

Keep the load close to the body

Hold with proper grip on load
