Charging Steps:

Please charge as follows:

1. Connect the adapter with the charger. 2. Plug the adapter into an A/C outlet.

3.ThechargerisreadyforchargingiftheindicatorLEDlightsredfor onesecondandturnsoff.IftheindicatorLEDisflashing,thecharger is not ready.

4. Place the battery into the charger aligning the battery slots with the charger guide rails.

5.TheindicatorLEDlightsredwhencharging.Ifthebattery capacityistoolow,theindicatorLEDflashesred.Thebatteryfirst trickle charges and turns to normal charging automatically.

6.ThebatteryisfullychargedwhenthebatteryLEDlightisgreen. The charger stops charging automatically.

Precautions in Charging

Please charge the battery before initial use or after extended storage. Please change or charge the battery if the powerislow.Ifthebatterypowerisconsumedquicklyevenafteranormalchargethebatterylifeisfinished.Pleasereplace with a new battery pack.

Do not charge the battery with the radio power on.

Attaching and Removing the Battery PackAttaching the BatteryMatch the two grooves of the battery with the corresponding guides on the back of the radio. Make surethebatteryisflatagainstandparalleltothealuminum chassis.

Then push the battery along the guide until the battery latch locks.

1 Antenna Antenna with helical plug is used to transmit and receive signals.

2 Top Key: Programmable Key The default setting is off.

3 Channel Selector Choose channel and the channel annunciation is available if the voice prompt is on.

4 Power Switch/Volume Control This knob is to turn on/off the radio and adjust volume. Rotate the knob clockwise until a click sounds to turn on the radio. Rotate it further to adjust the volume. Rotate the knob counter clockwise until a click sounds to turn off the radio.

Basic OperationTurning the Radio ON/OFF

Rotate the Power Switch/Volume Control knob clockwise until a click sounds to turn on the radio. At thesametime,avoiceindicationofthecurrentchannelis heard.

Channel Selecting

Rotate the channel to choose your desired channel from 1~16 channels.

You can select the channel according to the number or symbolmarkatthebottomoftheknob.Also,youcanoperate according to channel annunciation.

Make a Call

Tomakeacall,holddownthePTTkeyandspeakintothe microphone with normal voice. Please keep the microphone 2 inches away from your mouth.

Tip:1.HolddownthePTTbuttonandtheLEDindicatorglowsred,theradiobeginstotransmit.

2.IftheLEDindicatorflashesred,thebatterypowerisinsufficient.Theradiocannottransmitwhenthebatterypower is not enough for normal operation.

Receive a Call

ReleasethePTTbutton,theradiobeginstoreceive.Youcan hear the other voice if you receive a call on your current work channel. If call signal is too weak or you setveryhighsquelchlevel,youcannothearthecall.

Battery Power (electricity demand)Withthisfunction,theradiowillreportthebatterypowerbyaudibleindication:“PowerHigh”,“PowerMiddle”,“PowerLow”,and“PleaseChargeBattery”.

High/Low Power Switching (power)You can set the power setting of each channel separately according to your work environment to maximize the use ofbatterypower.Whensetatlowpower,theradiouseslesscurrent,thusthebatteryoperatingtimeisprolonged.High power is 5W and low power is 1W.

•Youcanselect“PowerSelect”in“ChannelInformation”menutosetthepowerashigh/lowpowerofeachchannel separately.

Other Function SettingsVoice PromptsThe default setting for this function is voice prompts in English. You can know the current channel through voice prompts.1.Inthe“Voice/BeepTone”in“OptionalFeature”menu,youcansetthepromptsasOFF/English/Tone.2. Channel Annunciation: The radio will report the current channel number when you switch to a channel.3. Low Battery Alert: The radio will alert you by voice prompts when the battery power becomes low.4.ScanOnIndication:Ifthecurrentchannelissetasthescanchannel,theradiowillinformyoubyvoiceprompts.

Low Battery AlertWhentheradioannouncesthelowbatteryalerteitherbyvoiceindication“beep/pleasechangethebattery”ortheLEDflashesredwhentransmittingtheradiowillstoptransmitting.Pleasereplacewithanewbatteryorchargethebattery.

Battery SaveThe receiver circuit will cycle ON and OFF by the selected ratio to reduce power consumption. The radio automatically enters save mode 5 seconds after no signal is received or transmitted and no key has been pressed. 1.Thedefaultsavescaleis1:3.Youcanchangethe“SaveScale”inthe“OptionalFunction”menuoftheprogrammingsoftware.Youcanselectoff,1:1,1:2,1:3,or1:4.Selecting“Off”cancelstheautobatterysave.Selecting 1:4 offers the highest battery conservation.

Busy Channel LockThisfunctionpreventstheradiosfromtransmittingwhileanotherradioistransmittingonthesamefrequencyoronthesamefrequencywiththesameCTCSS/CDCSStone.Pressing(PTT)keywhilethechannelisinuse,theradiowillgeneratealerttoneandtransmissionisprohibited.Release(PTT)keytostopthealerttone.Whenchannelisnotinuse,press(PTT)keyagainandtransmissionisenabled.

Setting range is 0.5~64.5s. The default setting of this item is 3.5s.3.TXDwellTime:TXDwellTimeisthetimefromtheendoftransmissiontothetimescanningautomaticallyresumes. Setting range is 0.5~64.5s. SquelchSetsquelchleveltodecidehowstrongareceivedsignalneedstobetounmutethespeaker.Thelowerthesquelchlevel the weaker the received transition needs to be to unmute the speaker. ThedefaultsettingofthisfunctionisLevel4.Youcansetthrough“SquelchLevel”optionin“OptionalFeature”menu.Settingrangeis0~9.Selecting“0”causesthesquelchtobeopen.Thehigherthesquelchlevel,thehardertoopenthesquelch.

Time Out Timer (TOT)Time out timer is used to prevent someone from using the same channel for a long time. At the same time to avoidradiodamage,causedbyextendedcontinuoustransmission.Ifthetransmissionexceedsthepresettime,transmissionwillbeinhibitedandanalerttonewillsound.Tostopthealerttone,releasethe(PTT)key.Press(PTT)keyagainandtransmissionisenabled.Thedefaultsettingofthisfunctionis180s.Youcansetthrough“TimeOutTimer”itemon“OptionalFeature”menu. The maximum time is 5 minutes.

CTSS/CDCSSCTSS/CDCSSisasub-audiosignal,mainlyusedtoavoidunwantedconversationsonthesamechannel.WithCTSS/CDCSSset,youcanonlyhearconversationswithmatchedCTSS/CDCSSwithineffectivesignalrange.WithoutCTSS/CDCSS,youwillreceiveallconversationsonthesamechannelwithineffectivesignalrange.YoucanpresetCTSS/CDCSSsignalingthrough“CTC/DCSENC”itemin“ChannelInformation”menuorbyyourlocal dealer.

Invalid Channel IndicationIfcurrentoperatingchannelisaninvalidchannel,theradiowillsendcontinuous“Dududu”asanalerttone,whichmeans the current channel is unable to transmit or receive.

Battery Power IndicationThis function enables you know the residual battery power at any time and place.TurnontheradioandLEDwillindicatetheresidualbatterypowerL1,L2,L3andL4byflashtimes:1,2,3and4.L4 means the battery power is full. L1 means the battery power is lower than the minimum normal operating power capacity and should be replaced soon.

Power ProtectionDuringuseormaintenance,transmissionisprohibitedifthepowersourceisimproperortheworkingvoltageishigher or lower than normal working voltage.Iftheworkvoltageislowerthan6.2vorhigherthan9.5v,transmissionisdisabled.

Warranty and Return Policy 2013 IfthereareanyDefectsinmaterialorworkmanshipundernormaluseandservice,itemswillberepairedorreplacedfreeofchargefor3 Years from date code on product. Simply contact your salesperson for repair or replacement.Blackbox Radios warrants all products against manufacturer’s defects as long as the product is still under warranty. Non-Warranty RepairsBlackboxRadiosstandardlaborrateis$60.00anhourwithaminimumrequirementofthirtyminutes.Thisdoesnotapplytoexcessivedamage(i.e.water-damagedunits).Ifanexcessivelydamagedunitisdeemedrepairable,thefeemaybeupto$85.00perunit.Thecostofpartsvariesandisinadditiontothelaborchargers.RadioProgrammingfeesaresetat$5.00perunit.Allgoodsrepairedwillrequireasignatureofauthorization to do the repair.RETURNTOCUSTOMER(RTCITEMS)Itemsreturnedthataredeemed“nonmanufacturersdefect”,havethedatecodemissing,orarenotwithintheproperwarrantytime-periodmayberepairedwithalaborfeeatthesolediscretionofBlackboxRadiosItemsdeemed“RTC”arenotcoveredunderBlackboxRadios,warrantypolicy and the customer will be responsible for paying the shipping costs to return the products back to the customer.
