Vigil for Safe Space

New York, NYA month ago, eight faculty members of the General Theological Seminary of The Episcopal Church (the GTS8) were forcibly resigned for going on strike requesting a non-hostile work environment in which harassment and retaliation would have no place. Despite growing concerns raised within and without the seminary about the need for a safe space at GTS, the Board of Trustees denied the GTS8's request for a neutral, independent person to hear complaints of harassment, abuse, intimidation, and retaliation. So, a number of clergy, laypersons, alumni, students, friends from other religious traditions, and labor rights advocates will gather in vigil and prayer at GTS to reclaim the seminary as a safe space on Wednesday, Oct. 29. Please join us outside the 20th St. gate at GTS at 5:45pmthe Vigil will conclude at 7pm.
