2. FIRE PREVENTION

Do not use product around openflames or sparking equipment such as switches and motors. Prohibitsmoking and lighters in any areawhere the product is stored, trans-ported, or used. Do not use electronicdevices (including but not limited tocellular phones, computers, calculatorsand pagers) in or around any opera-tion unless the devices are certifiedintrinsically safe by an approvednational testing agency and complywith the safety standards required by the National Fire ProtectionAssociation (NFPA) Code 70 NationalElectric Code, and/or local codes and regulations that may be in effect. All electrical equipment and fittingsmust comply with NFPA 70 and localfire prevention regulations for thisclass of product.

IN CASE OF FIRECool non-involved containers byflooding with large quantities of wateruntil well after the fire is out. Use awater spray for dissipating vapors.Wear MSHA/NIOSH/NFPA approvedself-contained breathing apparatus orequivalent and full NFPA-compliantprotective gear (Bunker gear).

Use an approved fire-fighting suppression system including BCrated dry chemical, CO2, or halonextinguishers. Do NOT spray waterdirectly on Transcend™ additive firesas product will float on water andcould re-ignite on the surface ofwater. Avoid inhaling vapors. Fightfires from a maximum distance or useunmanned hose holders or monitornozzles. If this is impossible, withdrawfrom the area and let the fire burn.Contain or treat all runoff materials.

1. STORAGE

The information in this section refersto bulk storage of pure Transcend™

Additive, and does not necessarilyapply to the bulk storage ofTranscend™ additive after it has beenblended with another blowing agent.Due to the specific nature and proper-ties of any blends containing theTranscend™ additive, bulk storage of a blend may need to be treated differently than the pure components.

The particular design of the bulk storage tank system depends on several factors such as expected consumption and location within theplant. Tanks shall be built, designedand constructed in accordance withapplicable codes and standards. Foratmospheric tanks, refer to API stan-dards such as API-650 or API-620 (lowpressure storage tanks). For pressurevessels refer to the ASME PressureVessel Code, Section VIII. Transcend™

additive is a flammable liquid, NFPA30 Flammable and Combustible Codesshall apply to the storage, handling, and use of this material. In addition, tanks must comply with all state andfederal permitting regulations and anylocal construction ordinances.

The design should take into accountthe highest pressure which couldarise from pressurized unloading andthe maximum operating temperature.

Secondary containment should be provided. The dike should bedesigned with minimum surface areain case of a liquid spill. Provisionsshould be made to prevent spilled liquid from entering the drainage.

All electrical equipment in the storagearea must conform to the requirementsof the appropriate area electrical classification based on the potentialfire or explosion hazards of the product. Proper grounding and bond-ing techniques should be used toavoid electrostatic ignition hazards.Never weld, grind, or use sources ofignition on a tank or one of its compo-nents unless it has been specificallyprepared for that activity.

Tanks and related equipment shouldbe periodically inspected for leaksand signs of damage. It should benoted that even an empty tank con-tains residual amounts of the productand should be handled carefully.

2. SPILLS AND DISPOSAL

In case of a spill or leak, flammabilityis the primary concern.

Eliminate all sources of ignition in the vicinity of a spill or releasedvapors. Isolate the area. Permit onlytrained personnel wearing full protec-tive clothing and equipment to enterthe spill area. Terminate the leakimmediately, if possible. Prevent entryinto sewers, basements or confinedareas; dike if needed.

Using non-sparking tools, collect thecontaminated soil, debris, clothing, etc., into a DOT-approved drum for disposal. Flush the spill area thoroughly with water and wash allcontaminated equipment. All flushingand wash water must be containedand prevented from entering a waterway. Ventilate the area to disperse vapors.

Consult a regulatory specialist todetermine appropriate state or localreporting requirements, for assistancein waste characterization and/or hazardous waste disposal and otherrequirements listed in pertinent environmental permits.

3. TRANSPORTATION/DELIVERIESAND PACKAGING

BULK TANK TRUCKS:Bulk quantities of Transcend™ additivewill be delivered using a tank truck. These trucks are designed for thedelivery of flammable liquids and are typically made of stainless steel.Often, trailers meeting MC-307 specifications are used. The use oftrailers with higher pressure ratings is permissible.

Arkema conducts pre-delivery surveysand site audits as a part of our com-mitment to Responsible Care®. It isimportant to note in the pre-deliverysurvey any special driver instructionsor customer special requirements, andto identify delivery equipment lengthof the hoses required for the delivery.

DRUMS:Pure Transcend™ additive can also be delivered in 55-gallon steel drums. These drums are filled at the plantwithin specification and sealed to prevent contamination or evaporation. All drums will be properly labeled with product specific information and safety precautions. Carefully readand understand all the informationand warnings on the label prior tousing the product. Drums will containapproximately 540 lbs of product.

The 55-gallon drums are top unloaderswith two bungs, one with a 2 inchopening and the other with a 3/4 inchopening placed on opposite sides on the top. They are coated internallywith a phosphatized anti-rust liner.Drums are DOT approved for transportation and storage and constructed of, at a minimum, 20-gauge carbon steel.

Drums should be handled carefully in away that avoids deforming, puncturingor damaging them. They should bestored in a cool, dry place, preferablyindoors, in a well ventilated area andshould be stored sitting on one end.

Avoid stacking drums directly on top of each other. If drums need to be stored outside, they should be covered with plastic sheeting to avoidwater accumulation on the heads thatwould lead to rust. Avoid storingdrums under direct sunlight for longperiods of time.

Do not store drums of Transcend™

additive near flames, sparks, highintensity lights or very hot surfacessince its vapors are flammable andcould ignite. Do not use cutting orwelding torches on any drum whichcontains any amount of product, evenif it is empty, since residual vaporscould cause an explosion.

Drums should be disposed of appropriately. If drums are notcleaned after use, they should be handled as hazardous materials. If they are properly washed and disabled to prevent refilling, they can be disposed of as waste steel.
