The Sadowsky preamp is controlled by the mini-toggle switch located between the volume and tonecontrol. This is a 3-way switch with the following settings:

Bypass / mid boost / mid boost + gain boost.

Bypass is a “total” bypass. It is equivalent to the guitar not having any preamp at all.

The amount of mid boost and gain boost can be adjusted on trim pots located on the circuit board. You can access the circuit board by opening up the control cavity. The mid boost trim is located onthe long end of the circuit board. The gain boost trim is located on the short end of the circuit board.

The more you boost the mid control, the “fatter and thicker” the sound will be. We set the gain boostfor “cutting through” on solos. You can use higher gain to overdrive the input of your tube amp for anice “crunch” distortion.

We encourage you to try the preamp whenever you go through any pedals or effects. You will besurprised at how much better your pedals sound with an active output from your guitar.

The circuit in this guitar is of professional quality anddesigned for the least amount of noise. The premiumchip in the circuit has a battery life rated at 1000 hours.Depending on use, this can mean battery life of overone year. Please note that the battery is being drainedwhenever the guitar is plugged in, regardless of themini-switch setting.

I can confidently say that I have experienced

thousands of sets of guitar and bass strings

over the last 30 years and would like to

share some thoughts with you.

Although string manufacturers spend thou-

sands of dollars on advertising

to assure you that their technology guaran-

tees quality and consistency, my experience

is that defective strings are more common

than most people realize.

Regardless of the quality control features

that the manufacturer uses, factors beyond

the control of any company result in bad

strings going out the door.

Most venues that sell strings never get to

sample the strings they sell. A shipment of

strings comes in the door and sold strings go

out the door. The vendor never experiences

quality control issues.

Some plain talkabout STRINGS.

SADOWSKY ELECTRIC NYLON STRING GUITARCONTROLS: Volume & Tone

THE SADOWSKY ELECTRIC NYLON GUITAR can be used with any standard classical guitar

string. However, we strongly recommend the GHS set #2390. The bass strings are

smoother than normal to eliminate much of the string “squeak” which is common with

standard strings. The treble strings are special nylon imported from Argentina to insure excellent into-

nation. These strings may be hard to find in your local music store and can be ordered from Sadowsky

Guitars ($10 per set, 6 set minimum). We have evaluated similar strings made by all the major string

manufacturers and have found this GHS set to be the best.

For players who are not familiar with nylon strings, please note that new nylon strings continue to

stretch for a long time and require frequent stretching and retuning. It is also common for wound

strings, especially the D string to break spontaneously when the instrument is at rest (this almost never

happens during playing).

The circuit in this guitar is of professional quality and designed for the least amount of noise. The pre-

mium quality chip in this guitar has a battery life rated at 1,000 hours. Depending on use, this can

mean a battery life of over one year. For professional players, we recommend installing a new battery

(9-volt alkaline) every six months. Please note that the battery is being drained whenever the instru-

ment is plugged in.

IMPORTANT!Many guitar stands are manufactured using a type of rubber that

can stain or melt the nitrocellulose lacquer of your Sadowsky

instrument.

We are supplying—free of charge—the enclosed hanger covers

that are nitro-safe. Please install them on the neck support of your

stand or wall hanger.

Our archtops are finished entirely in nitrocellulose lacquer, so we

supply covers for the body portion of the stand as well.

Please be careful with inexpensive vinyl straps as they can damage

nitrocellulose finishes also.

PLEASE NOTE

We have attached clear

static-cling vinyl to the front and

back of your instrument to protect it

from scratches during your

7-day approval period.

Please do not remove the vinyl until you

are sure you will be keeping your

instrument.

Frequency and band width settings are located on circuit board.Only one switch position should be on at a time.

The positions are as follows:1 – 500Hz, Q=12 – 500Hz, Q=1.73 – 800Hz, Q=14 – 800Hz, Q=1.7

The default setting is #2 (Will's choice)

Mini toggle switch on control plate:Towards neck, mid boostTowards jack, no mid boost

On the control plate there are two trim pots.Trimpot A adjusts the gain of the mid boost.

Trimpot B controls the total output from the preamp.

We preset the controls as follows:

Set mid boost (A) to MAX. Reduce output trim (B) until the overall output of the bass is about the same with themid boost engaged and bypassed. This will accentuate the tone difference between mid boost engaged and

bypassed, without affecting your overall output levels.

The approach here is take a little time to find "your sound" and from there, it is "set it and forget it".
