Cheverus Catholic School News • Our Middle School students went to the Arlington Theatre to see Harriet, a new biographical film about Harriet Tubman.

• Students in grade 7 and 8 also went to Bishop Fenwick to see two free performances by their drama students, Selfie and #Censored. Selfie was an in-depth look at how social media can affect students and #Censored focused on a student art show and a controversial painting.

• Cheverus faculty, students, and parents will march in the 16th Annual Parade of Holiday Traditions on November 30th at 2pm in Malden. Our theme will be Cheverus Catholic: School of the World and all the students will be dressed in clothing from their diverse cultures.

• Cheverus Catholic School will hold an All Class Reunion on March 5th, 2020 at 6:30pm. All alumni are welcome to attend. Please RSVP to Diana at 781-324-6584.

New Church Wheelchair Lift PlanNew Church Wheelchair Lift PlanNew Church Wheelchair Lift Plan

The new lift will be placed to the right of the side entrance nearest Main St., between the downspouts as pictured below. The new wheelchair lift will be enclosed and will service both the lower and upper churches. We currently have $11,590 in the elevator fund. We’re hoping to raise enough funds from this year’s Grand Annual campaign to make the lift a reality. The pictures shown above of the lift entrance, vestibule, and basement level landing, were taken at West Medford Baptist Church.

Giving Tree

The Giving Tree for the 2019 Christmas season will begin the weekend of November 23/24. This year we will be sponsoring families from Family Resource Center, Catholic Charities and St. Vincent De Paul. Please take a tag from the Christmas tree, purchase the gifts and return the items along with the tag by December 7/8. We will also be accepting diapers, all sizes, and gift cards to Target. We thank you in advance for your generosity.

Sacred Hearts Parish Hosts ALL NIGHT EUCHARISTIC VIGIL

All Night Eucharistic Vigil will be held at Sacred Hearts Parish, 297 Main Street in Malden on First Friday on December 6, with Holy Mass of the Sacred Heart at 9:00 P.M. The celebrant will be Fr. Mario Guarino and the themes of this vigil are the Maternity of Mary and Our Lady of America. The intentions of this vigil are for Pope Francis, Sean Cardinal O’Malley, priests and religious of the Boston Archdiocese. A special intention will be for the people of this parish.

During the evening there will be religious exercises, recitation of the rosary, chaplet of Divine Mercy, Stations of the Cross and the vigil will end with the Mass of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at 5: A.M. with Fr Mario Guarino as celebrant. Religious articles will be available and prayer cards will be distributed to all who attend. Refreshments will be served throughout the night. Don’t Be Alone on Thanksgiving Free Community Dinner

Thanksgiving Day November 28, 2019

Noon to 2:00pm Malden High School Cafeteria 77 Salem Street, Malden, MA

This dinner is open to anyone who would like to enjoy a won-derful holiday meal in good company - free of charge.

No reservation is needed. Meals will be delivered to senior citizens in local cities and towns who are unable to attend. Donations of roasted turkeys (preferably de-boned) are much-needed and would be appreciated. They may be brought to the Malden High School cafeteria, rear entrance off of Ferry Street, on Wednesday, Novem-

ber 27 from 4 – 7 pm. Wed, Nov 27, 4-7 pm prepping turkey meat, desserts, dining hall. Please bring your knife and apron. Thur, Nov 28: 8-10 am prep food, package meals for delivery, prep dining hall 10-11:30 am deliveries of meals to the elderly. If interested in being a driver, please contact the delivery coordinator, Gene Pinkham, directly at [email protected] or call him at 781-321-0994 11:30 am-2 pm serve meal 2-4 pm package leftover food and cleanup 3:30-5 pm load leftover food & supplies into truck and unload at First Baptist Church, across from the High School, and at the BOL Pantry, 54 Eastern Ave, Malden.
