Announcing the return of “Monday Nite LIVE”, presenting the eight-part series

“UNLOCKING THE MYSTERY OF THE BIBLE”

Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible helps you uncover the story woven throughout Scripture, so you can get the “big picture” of the Bible and understand what it’s all about. The complexity of the Bible is simplified through an easy-to-follow narrative approach, and this ingenious color-coded Bible Timeline Chart. This Chart helps you to follow the story that ties all of Scripture together and makes it easy to understand the Bible. The study includes eight half-hour videos presented by Jeff Cavins. Jeff will guide you through salvation history. He will explain how the Bible reveals God’s loving plan for your life and provide you with helpful advice on how to put your faith into practice. These engaging videos also feature footage from the Holy Land, animated maps, useful charts and graphics, and beautiful art, which add to the overall experience of the study. Each video will be followed by a lively group discussion. We will begin Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible on MONDAY, JAN. 8th at 7:00pm in Founders Hall. For more information or to register for the study, email Paul Abbe, Director of Faith Formation at [email protected], or visit the Faith Formation table in the center of the Gathering Area.

SACRED HEART BULLETIN BOARD

Prison Ministries Our mission is to facilitate the study of scripture for inmates of the jail in Moore County (Carthage). Locally, at Sacred Heart Parish, we are looking for volunteers for this ministry. We hold our study and service once a week, Tuesdays, 11 am to noon, at the jail in Carthage. Two or more parish members facilitate the sessions. We volunteer, which we understand to be the highest of commitments. We operate via a calendar sent to us each month. We use the facilitation mode of study for our services and understand we are not teachers, preachers or counselors. We are folks from Sacred Heart Parish doing God's work and we encourage others to join us. Please contact Cliff Sumrall: (919) 301-0018 or go by the Parish office for an application.

Sacred Heart is creating a new Service Ministry centering on support for parish families who have recently lost loved ones and are planning Funeral Services here. We are actively searching for volunteers who are willing to assist families in their time of need. Opportunities would include: ♦ Attending Funerals to help guide and offer support to family and friends ♦ Assisting with Funeral Receptions (ie; baking cookies, set up etc.) ♦ Sending cards to families expressing our condolences and continuing support We are planning an informational meeting (time to be determined) for those expressing interest in this Ministry. If you would like to offer some time, please contact Sharon Landers at 910-639-2403.

Matthew 25 MANY THANKS to the wonderful and generous parishioners at Sacred Heart. Matthew 25 Cores sorted through the lovely items you collected for our dear folks in long term care. We were able to package a personalized gift for so many. On the 8th of November we wrapped with beautiful paper, bows, a hand-written Christmas card, " from Sacred Heart”. The children who are involved with the Parents Night Out will also made fun, hand-made cards which will be included. We received so many great items that we will be able to gift many who have no one and who are not Catholic. What a great way to tell others that we are all the people of God and that we hold them in our hearts. I was asked last week which Long term care facilities that Matthew 25 serves. We have a monthly Mass in Fox Hollow, Quail Haven, Brookdale and Magnolia Gardens. In October Father Forbes participated in our first Holy Mass at West End Memory Care. In addition, we visit Manor Care and host numerous activities at Pinehurst Rehabilitation Center. Sacred Heart is so blessed to have both our Pastor, Father Forbes and Father Johnson who love serving the elderly. West End Newspaper recently thanked the people of Sacred Heart for your service. Please check out the Parish Web page, there is current information on Matthew 25, Dana Tucich is our Volunteer Coordinator and welcomes questions as to how you can serve. The great St. Ignatius Loyola wrote often to his Jesuits, " Here on earth God's work must be our own."
