“Quo Vadis – Where are you going?” Legend tells us that Saint Peter asked Jesus this question on the outskirts of Rome. We know where Jesus went in response to His Father’s will. What is the Father’s will for you? Quo Vadis Days is a time of recreation, fellowship, prayer and discussion to help you explore our Lord’s call in your life. Activities will include prayer, Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Liturgy of the Hours, Rosary, hiking, games, recreation, sports, talks, great food, and discussions. A time to share our faith and meet other young men seeking God’s will. Quo Vadis Days will be held July 8-10, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Retreat Center in Newton, New Jersey. The cost is free. For more information and/or registration, contact the coordinators Fr. Jared Brogan and Fr. Edgar Rivera in the Vocations Office at (973) 777-8818, ext. #711. You can also email Frs. Brogan and Rivera at [email protected] or [email protected]. Holy Hour of Adoration

Our next Holy Hour will be on Friday, June 5th, 6:00-7:00 pm, as Father Brendan continues with his talks on the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  This month’s topic will be “Make Our Hearts Like Unto Thine”.  June’s Holy Hour will be the last one before our Parish Feast of the Sacred Heart on June 12th.   See more information about our Feast Day on the opposite page.  (Our picnic has been cancelled for this year, but a splendid Spaghetti Dinner Feast will take its place.)

“HIS WORD TODAY” by Rev. William J. Reilly

Pentecost Sunday

May 24, 2015

“In the same way, the Spirit too comes to the aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes with inexpressible groaning.  And the one who searches hearts knows what is the intention of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the holy ones according to God’s will.”

The Pentecost event is so well known. The signs of fire, wind and noise accompany the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.  What was is no more, as the fear  which brought them together was unlocked as were the doors and a new era began.

The Spirit which Jesus breathed into the apostles became the breath of new life for the church as the Spirit of God sent them to renew the face of the earth. As the doors were opened, the windows of Aggiornamento of Pope Saint John 23rd allowed new life to spring forth in the church.

The Spirit comes to us in our weakness today, as we do not have all the answers but He intercedes for us, allowing us to be spirit driven to bring the gospel to our waiting world.
