I was glad to spend time with the

Bishop of our diocese. Bishop Jacob An-

gadiath was kind enough to answer all the

questions we asked and he signed our re-

port card. Bishop told us how he wanted to

be a priest when he was very young. This gives me an in-

spiration to think about my future serving God wherever he

places me. Bishop Jacob helped us to think about what

Holy Communion means? This was a very memorable ex-

perience that I will always cherish.

Sunday, February 5, 2012 was an excit-

ing day for me. I woke up early and got

ready to go to church because Bishop Mar

Jacob Angadiath was going to visit our

class. First we had Holy Mass with

Bishop. Then Bishop came to our CCD class and talked to

us about Jesus, the seven Sacraments and the Ten Com-

mandments. The bishop asked us questions. Bishop also

answered our questions. Bishop gave us certificate and

gifts for each and every one. Then we had lunch with the

Bishop, Saji Achan, teachers and our family. Next, the

Bishop cut the cake and we gave him a huge Thank You

card. I am very thankful to the Bishop for coming to our

class and spending his treasured time with us. I am thank-

ful for Saji Achan, our teachers and our parents for the mo-

    mentous event.

It was an Exciting day! - Sarah Shibu Mulayanikunnel

On the day when the Bishop came to

our class, Bishop taught us about Jesus,

    Sacraments and Commandments. We took

a picture with Bishop. Then we had our

snacks. Bishop signed his name on our re-

port card. Then bishop give us the report card, goodie bag

and a medal. I was excited to kiss Bishop’s ring. Then we

had lunch with Bishop, Achan, friends, teachers, parents

and siblings. We had lots of fun and learned lot from

    bishop.

On February 5th, Bishop Mar Jacob An-

gadiath came to our CCD class. Bishop

lead the Holy Qurbana that we all joined.

We learned lots of things from Bishop’s

visit. We all stood up and greeted the

Bishop when he came to our class. Bishop talked about

Jesus and church. He also talked about how he became a

priest. Then he talked about why we have a patron saint.

Bishop answered all our questions about Holy Communion

and Reconciliation. The whole second grade class made a

huge appreciation card. Then Bishop gave all of us a small

gift. Then we ate lunch with Bishop, Achan and our family.

It was a memorable day for me.

I really enjoyed spending time with the

Bishop. There are several things that I

really liked. It was very interesting to hear

the Bishop talk about Jesus. I also liked

when we got to take a picture with the Bishop. It was nice

to receive a picture of the Holy Pope from the Bishop. He

also handed us a goody bag full of prizes. The best part

was when I got to cut the cake with the Bishop.

I was waiting for this day. It was very

emotional. Bishop gave us a lot of mean-

ingful messages. We asked him many

questions and bishop answered all our

questions. Bishop asked many questions to

Q 60. Why is Jesus the greatest example in the world?

A 60. Jesus Christ is unique because he shows us not

only God’s true nature but also the true ideal of man.

Jesus was more than an ideal man. Even seemingly

ideal men are sinners. That is why no man can be the

measure of humanity. Jesus, however, was without sin. We

cannot know what it means to be a man, and what makes

man infinitely loveable in the truest sense of the word, ex-

cept Jesus Christ, who “in every respect has been tempted

as we are, yet without sinning.” Jesus, the Son of God, is

the authentic, true man. In him we recognize how God

    willed man to be.

Q 61. In what does the equality of all men consist?

A 61. All men are equal inasmuch as they have the

same origin in the one creative love of God. All men

have their Savior in Jesus Christ. All men are destined

to find their happiness and their eternal blessedness in

    God.

Hence all men are brothers and sisters. Christians

should practice solidarity not only with other Christians

but with everyone and forcefully oppose racist, sexist, and

economic divisions in the one human family.

Q 62. What is the soul?

A 62. The soul is what makes every individual person a

man: his spiritual life-principle and inmost being. The

soul causes the material body to be living human body.

Through this soul causes the material body to be living

human body. Through his soul, man is a creature who

can say “I” and stand before God as an irreplaceable

    individual.

Men are bodily and spiritual creatures. A man’s spirit

is more than a function of his body and cannot be ex-

plained in terms of man’s material composition. Reason

tells us that there must be a spiritual principle that is

united with the body but not identical to it. We call it the

“soul”. Although the soul’s existence cannot be proved

Youth Catechism of the Catholic ChurchYouth Catechism of the Catholic ChurchYouth Catechism of the Catholic Church

scientifically, man cannot be understood as a spiritual or

intellectual being without accepting this spiritual or intel-

lectual being without accepting this spiritual principle that

    transcends matter.

Q 63. From where does man get his soul?

A 63. The human soul is created is directly by God and

is not “produced” by the parents.

Man’s soul cannot be the product of an evolutionary de-

velopment out of matter or the result of a generative union

of the father and mother. With every man, a unique, spiri-

tual comes into the world: the Church expresses this mys-

tery by saying that God gives him a soul, which cannot

die; even if the person loses his body in death, he will find

it again in the resurrection. To say, “I have a soul”, means

that God created me not only as creature but as a person
