FROM THE PASTOR SUMMER MONTHS AND MASS—As we transition
into summer, I hope all of you will enjoy this wonderful
and less scheduled (?) time of the year. I want to encour-
age all of you to continue to participate in Sunday Mass
(or the anticipated or vigil Mass on Saturday). If you
will travel during this time, consult masstimes.org to
find a parish where you will be able to participate in
Mass while you are away.
STAFF TRANSITIONS—I am glad to announce that we have hired Christine Kerr as the Administrative As-sistant for Giving and Data. Christine and her family are parishioners at Sacred Heart; her two children are stu-dents at our parish school. She will begin her position later this month. We are still in the hiring process for a new Pas-toral Assistant for Children’s Faith Formation and for a new Accompanist for Mass. Please keep all of our parish staff in your pray-ers during this time of transition. ORDINATION TO THE DIACONATE AND TO THE PRIESTHOOD—Our diocese is blessed this year to have four young men who will be ordained priests on Saturday, June 25, at 10 AM at St. James Cathedral; those to be ordained will be Michael Dion, Kyle Manglona, Cody Ross, and Patrick Sherrard. You can read about these ordinandi in the current issue of North-west Catholic; please pray for all of them and that more young men will respond to the invitation to serve in our diocese as priests. Let us continue to work together to build up the King-dom of God here at Sacred Heart.
NEW WEEKEND MASS SCHEDULE
BEGINS JULY 2-3 Our new weekend Mass schedule will begin the week-
end of July 2-3, 2016: Saturday at 5 PM, Sunday at 8:30
and 11 AM. There is more information about the sched-
ule on the parish website: New Weekend Mass Sched-
ule.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD Children’s Liturgy of the Word is celebrated during Mass on Sunday morning and is an extension of the assembly’s celebration by inviting children in Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade to hear the Word pro-claimed in an age appropriate manner. The children are dismissed with a catechist after the Opening Pray-er and return to their families at the Preparation of the Gifts for the remainder of the Mass with the assembly. Adults who have a special love for Sacred Scripture and are eager to help children in a deeper appreciation of the Mass are invited to assist in this ministry. For further information or to assist contact Carol Guenther at the Parish Office.
PEW ART You will notice in the pew envelope holder a new ad-dition. A Pew Art card is provided if your child does not have paper and pencil from home and wants to create a small drawing during Mass. Take time to read the reverse side of the card for information and encouragement.
MEMORIAL OF ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA “St. Anthony of Padua [1195-1231], a member of a noble
Portuguese family, wrote extensively, especially in the
area of sermons; therefore, he was named a Doctor of the
Church. People invoke his name when trying to find lost
items. This is due to an event when a novice took his Psal-
ter, eventually returning it because of a distressing appari-
tion.” (2016 Sourcebook for Sundays, Seasons, and Week-
days, 229) St. Anthony’s feastday is Monday, June 13.
UPCOMING FUNERALS There will be a Funeral Mass for Lillian Kastner on Mon-
day, June 13, at 11 am; there will be no 9 AM Mass on
Monday. There will be a Funeral Mass for Clarence
Rozgay on Saturday, June 18, at 11 AM.
LAST SCHOOL MASS ON THURSDAY Students and staff at our parish school will participate in
the 9:00 AM Mass on Thursday, June 16, which will be
the final day of this school year.
BLESSING FOR FATHERS Since next weekend we will celebrate Father’s Day, there will be a blessing for fathers at all the Masses. Let us take this opportunity to remember and pray for all of our fa-thers whether they are alive or deceased.

PARISH GIVING FUND To model stewardship giving on a parish level, Sacred
Heart has traditionally given away a portion of its ordinary
income (Sunday and Holy Day offerings) to worthy chari-
ties beyond parish boundaries. Fr. Steve has assembled a
small committee to make recommendations to him on
where this money should be directed. If you know of a
worthy charity that could use parish giving funds,
please contact John Meyer at the parish office, jmey-
[email protected], and request that our basic infor-
mation form be sent to them. The next meeting of the
committee is in late June.
A BIG THANK YOU FROM CCS With your generous support, our annual Catholic Commu-
nity Services (CCS) Appeal for the Poor Campaign in De-
cember raised over $1.7 million—THANK YOU! Your
gifts are critical in making it possible for us to provide the
programs and services that help more than 125,000 people
transform their lives each year. You help individuals and
families move beyond despair into lives filled with hope
and a brighter future. THANK YOU doesn’t even begin
to express our gratefulness for your strong support and
participation. For more information, please contact us at
1-800-499-5979 ext. 5707 or [email protected].
