Sacred Heart School New Student Pre-registration
Are you a family with a new student ready to enter Sacred Heart Catholic School in Fall 2017? 2017-2018 Pre-registration will take place from Monday, 1/23/17 to Friday, 1/27/17 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the school office. Elijah Cup Volunteers Needed
We are in need of families to host the Elijah cup. The Elijah Cup, introduced by Catholic Daughters Court 1759, travels each week to a different family’s house. After receiving the Elijah Cup at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass, the family then places the consecrated chalice in a place of honor in their home to remind them to pray for vocations. The family prays all week for vocations, using the accompanying prayer journal, before returning the Elijah Cup on the following Sunday. Needed Sacred Heart Faith Formation currently has 325 Students every week! We are thrilled! However, we are in desperate need of volunteers to substitute for all grades! - No weekly commitment, just as needed and as your availability allows - Curriculum & Lesson Plan provided We currently have only two subs. While we know that everyone is busy, if we can get 30 volunteers to go on the sub list, each person will only have to sub once or twice over the course of the whole year. Available to help? Sacraments Infant Baptism Preparation: Registered (3 months) and participating parishioners may schedule infant or child (younger than 7 years old) baptism after completion of a baptism preparation class. Contact the church office.
Sacrament of Matrimony: Registered and participating parishioners (minimum 6 months) may make a request to be married. The couple must meet with the Pastor before setting a date and at least 6 months in advance of an anticipated wedding in order to complete the preparation process.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA): RCIA meets every Sunday morning. All who would like more information about membership in the Roman Catholic Church are invited to call the Church Office.
R E L I G I O U S E D U C AT I O N
High School Youth Ministry All 9th - 12th grade students are invited to participate in Youth Ministry! Youth Ministry offers large group events 2-3 times a month. Our
events include retreats, athletic activities, and fellowship. We also encourage all teens to participate in our weekly small groups. These groups strive to help the teens to grow deeper in their relationship with Christ and grow in discipleship. Please look at our calendar of upcoming large group events below:
Faith Formation
Registration is taken during the months of July/August. Please stop by the church office for registration forms. Faith Formation starts in September and goes through May. Faith Formation meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.
Adult Education
Adult Education meets Sundays from 9:15-10:15 a.m. We are working our way through Jeff Cavin’s Bible Timeline Study from December 4 - June 4. Contact Denise Hallet for more information (704-560-5304 or [email protected]).

Pláticas para el Bautismo Las pláticas para el Bautismo se llevarán a cabo cada tercer sábado del mes. Los padres deben ser católicos practicantes y están registrados en la parroquia Sagrado Corazón.
Reunión para Lectores Te invitamos a tomar parte en el ministerio de los Lectores. Ven a nuestra reunión que se llevara a cabo cada segundo miér-coles del mes a las 7:30 PM en la cafetería.

Preparación para el Matrimonio
Las parejas que desean casarse deben ser católicos practicantes y estar registrados como miembros de la parroquia Sagrado Corazón de Jesús por seis me-ses antes de hacer los arreglos necesarios para las platicas matrimoniales. La pareja debe completar los requisitos canónicos antes del día de la boda.
Coro Les invitamos a participar en el ministerio de música litúrgica. El ensayo del Coro se llevara a cabo todos los sábados a las 6:00 PM– 8:30 PM en la iglesia.
RICA
Las clases se imparten todos los domingos de 11:00 am -12:15 pm en el salón de sexto grado. Este curso es una preparación para los adultos que no están bautizados, confirmados y no han hecho la Primera Comunión.
TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Es tiempo de añadir los reyes magos al pesebre. En 1448 llegaron los pesebres italianos a las iglesias españolas, pero no fue hasta que el Rey Carlos III le regaló un pesebre a su hijo en el siglo XVIII que el uso de pesebres se expandió en los hogares. Desde entonces, el uso de nacimientos llegó al continente americano en donde se conviertió en la decoración principal para las fiestas navideñas. Así como en todo país latinoamericano el montaje del Belén es una tradición, lo es también en Venezuela. Con el pesebre venezolano llegan también aguinaldos, parrandas, Misas y patines. ¡Sí! ¡Patines! Desde la mitad del siglo pasado los venezolanos celebran la época navideña con “patinadas”. Estas “patinadas” normalmente se hacen por las mañanas y muchas calles están cerradas a los autos hasta las 8 a.m. para que niños y jóvenes puedan disfrutar de los patines, bicicletas y otros juguetes que les regala el niño Dios. Por esto, muchos niños duermen con un “cordoncito” atado al dedo gordo de los pies, que cuelgan por la ventana para que los despierten los que pasan patinado.
