VACANCY - VOLUNTEER Piety Stall Convenor - Sacred Heart
Cathedral
A volunteer as Convenor for the Sunday Piety Stall at the Cathedral will be required from the end of January 2016 in order to keep it operational.
The Piety Stall opens for a short time period once a week (before and after each Sunday mass) for small sales of devotional material. Its location near the main entrance door also means the convenor of the piety stall at times also helps with welcoming people to Sunday mass.
The Cathedral’s Piety Stall was an initiative of our late Bishop Michael, however the stall he wanted for his Cathedral simply will not be able to continue unless someone is interested and able to take on the role of Convenor.
So if you can help, please talk to Peter Young at the Piety Stall, or contact the Parish Office.
THE RITE OF ELECTION AND CALL TO CONTINUING CONVERSION will take place this year within the 10.00am Mass at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Sunday, 14 February.
'The Rite of Election' is a significant step for those, mainly adults, who will be baptised in various parishes across the Diocese at the Easter Vigil or close to it.
'The Call to Continuing Conversion' recognises the Candidates who are already part of the Elect by virtue of their baptism, they may have been baptised into the Catholic Church and have not yet received the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist or have been baptised into another Christian Tradition and now wish to be received into full communion of the Catholic Church. We therefore pray that the gifts they have received at their baptism will be strengthened during this time of preparation.
You can offer your support and encouragement by participating in this ceremony and sharing in the hospitality and greeting after the Mass. If you are unable to attend please keep all the Candidates and Catechumens in your prayers.
WORLD DAY OF THE SICK REFLECTION DAY: Hospital visitors and those who take communion and visit the sick in their homes or nursing homes are invited to a day of reflection and discussion on Thursday 11th February from 9am – 2:30pm at House of Prayer, Morning Tea and Lunch will be provided so please RSVP to Mary on 07 4726 3252 or [email protected]
