An Epistle from Paul:

“But Grow in Grace and Knowledge! – An Industrialist addressed a group of executives at a leadership conference years ago. His topic concerned employee motivation – how to get the job done while maintaining the enthusiasm/commitment of your personnel. He offered a lot of advice, but one concept in particular stood out: “There are two things that are the most difficult to get people to do – to think and do things in the order of their importance.”

Let me use the above to help illustrate yet another vital Biblical principle. 2 Peter 3:18 says, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.”

In essence, this passage is saying to you and me that by growing in the grace and knowledge of Christ our Lord, we will be THINKING and DOING matters in the order of their importance.

Often I am asked as a preacher of a local congregation, “How are you going to motivate the people to think and do what they ought to be thinking and doing?” My response is very simple and very Biblical – give me the opportunities to help the church family grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ our Lord and the motivation for thinking and doing what ought to be done will become automatic. You see, I refuse to rely on gimmicks and all forms of bribery to get the Lord’s people to be the motivated people they need to be. Let me preach and teach the grace of God and together we’ll be moved/motivated to worship/serve our Lord!

This coming Wednesday will be our 4th Annual Chili Cook Off. We will be gathering at the church building at 6:30 PM to find out who will be crowned the best chili for 2016. We urge and invite you to come and bring your favorite recipe of chili. All will be called upon to determine which chili this year will be called the “best” for 2016. Next Meeting Wed. March 2nd!

It was announced that we would be meeting Wednesday, February 3rd. Chris and Tonya will be out of town that day; so, we will put our next gathering a month away, Wednesday, March 2nd. We will meet then at 6:30 PM to 7:45 PM. Meanwhile, the adults will be meeting at Anita Watts’ February 3rd and 10th. We will continue in our “That The World May Know” dvd series with Ray Vandar Lann teaching. These are outstanding lessons. We urge and invite you to join us as we continue in them!!

Next Wed. Luncheon!Our next church luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, February 24th. We will meet at the Eaton Pizza Hut at 12 Noon. What can we do to encourage your presence with us.
