Hymn See Amid the Winter’s Snow #199 (1-6)

See, amid the winter's snow, born for us on earth belowSee the tender Lamb appears, promised from eternal years

Refrain:Hail, thou ever-blessed morn! Hail, redemption's happy dawnSing through all Jerusalem, Christ is born in Bethlehem

Lo, within a manger lies he who built the starry skiesHe who, throned in height sublime, sits amid the cherubim

Say, ye holy shepherds, say - what's your joyful news todayWherefore have ye left your sheep on the lonely mountain steep

"As we watched at dead of night, lo! we saw a wondrous lightAngels singing, 'peace on earth,' told us of the Savior's birth"

Sacred infant, all divine, what a tender love was thineThus to come from highest bliss down to such a world as this

Teach, O teach us, holy child, by thy face so meek and mildTeach us to resemble thee, in thy sweet humility

Silent Confession of Sin

Prayer of ConfessionMost holy and loving Father, we acknowledge and confess before you our many sins and remaining corruption. We were brought forth in iniquity; we have turned aside from wholeheartedly following your Word. We have neglected your gifts and strayed from your commands. We have loved ourselves more than you. For these sins, and many others, we are sorry and plead your forgiveness. Have mercy upon us according to your steadfast love! Create in us clean hearts, and restore to us the joy of your salvation. O Lord, teach us to hate our sin, cleanse us from our hidden faults, and forgive our transgressions—all for the sake of your Son and our Lord, Jesus Christ. We pray this in His mighty name. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon Romans 6:5, 10-11For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. For the death he died, he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Hymn What Child Is This #213 (1-3)

Joy has dawned upon the world, promised from creationGod’s salvation now unfurled, hope for ev’ry nationNot with fanfares from above, not with scenes of gloryBut a humble gift of love—Jesus born of Mary
