Eucharistic Adoration this Week There will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament as usual this Tuesday, Dec. 31st, after the 7:00 a.m. mass and concluding with Benediction at noon. Also note that since the First Friday also occurs this week, there will be adoration on Friday morning, January 3rd. (There are no confessions on Thursday, Jan. 2nd). Job Well Done! (Christmas Basket Project) We congratulate the team that organized and worked the annual Christmas Basket Project last weekend. This tradition began more than 35 years ago in connection with the parish youth organization. This Christmas, 133 families (433 persons) were helped with food and gifts. The project depends on donations from our parish, the community, and other local churches as well as several businesses. It is most heartening to witness the cooperation of dozens of volunteers, especially youth from our local schools and Suny/ Fredonia who sort, carry, organize, wrap and even deliver gifts when necessary. We are especially grateful to long time project organizers, including Carol Smith and Peter Notaro. Thank You to all who made a donation, large or small. Your gifts have helped to bring a sign of God’s love in Christ to many families.
Note from the Pastor: We have just celebrated Christmas and are about to begin a new year. I thank all who worked so hard in the weeks and days leading up to Christmas. In particular; three groups stand out:
Those who planned, decorated, sang, participated, cleaned or in any way gave your best for the celebration of Christ’s Birth. Your dedicated work shows!
Those who organized, assembled, sorted, wrapped and distributed so many groceries and gifts for the Christmas Basket Project. You did an amazing job again this year.
Those who work week after week to staff the Parish Food Pantry.
In the name of the parish you fulfill the command of Christ. “Love one another as I have loved you.” Together you make us all proud. Thank you and God bless you. -Fr. Dennis
Dunkirk, New York December28/29th , 2019 Advertising in SEAS Bulletin A new advertising year will begin soon. If you wish your business to appear weekly in the bulletin, please contact the parish office soon. Your ad will reach about 450 households and is well spent. The fee for a single ad is $250 per year; a double ad is $500. We prefer a business card or layout indicating how you wish the ad to appear. Please note that the DEADLINE for new ads is Feb. 18th, 2020 for printing in the bulletin beginning Feb. 24th, 2020. Letters and forms with details will be mailed to you for your convenience.
Telephone Assurance Program (TAP) The Telephone Assurance Program serves Erie and Chautauqua Counties with free volunteer services providing regular telephone calls to homebound elderly and disabled persons to check on their well-being and give people an opportunity to socialize. Relationships grow and last for years through a regular 5- to 15-minute call. These friendly calls can alleviate some concerns facing those who live alone and can help them maintain their independence. If you know of someone who would like to receive calls or to volunteer to make calls, call 716-218-1400 for TAP. For more information on Catholic Charities and other services and programs we provide, visit www.ccwny.org. Join us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Access to Diocesan News There are three ways to get news and information about the Diocese of Buffalo. You may use social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. The Diocesan Website is www.buffalodiocese .org. Finally you can access the WNY Catholic at www.wnycatholic.org.
Religious Education Schedule The first Religious Education Session for the new year will be held on January 5th. On that day, families and youth will gather at noon for a “Faith in the Family” session.
End of Year Donations If you wish to make an end-of-year donation to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, please keep in mind that we must receive it by December 31th so that you can claim it as a charitable donation on your 2019 income tax return. You may also want to remember your parish in your will. For legal purposes, our title is “St Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church Society of Dunkirk, New York”
