Christ the King Seminary Collection Today

Today we welcome Susan Santandreu who will speak to us on behalf of Christ the King Seminary. Her name should be familiar to us through her son, Fr Peter Santandreu. Your donation makes a difference by helping 8,000 people deepen their faith in classes, retreats and various events sponsored annually by the seminary. At present 40 seminarians, plus deacon candidates and lay students are enrolled at our local diocesan seminary. Thank you for your thoughtful donation. You may donate in today’s second collection or at cks.edu.

Faith Formation Classes for Youth/Children There will be a parent meeting in the gym on Sunday, Sept. 16th at 12:15 p.m. The First Class Day for Children is Sun. Sept. 23rd beginning at 9:15 a.m. We are making an effort this year to put families back at the center of faith formation. On the first Sunday of each month, instead of a regular class, we invite both the parents, grandparents and youth to a Family Faith Gathering following the 11 a.m. mass (about noon). In each session, we will share a simple meal together and then discuss a specific theme that can be used at home in the family setting. Remember that without active faith in the home, religion classes are of no value.

Diocesan Hispanic Heritage Mass The Office of Cultural Heritage will sponsor their annual Diocesan Hispanic Heritage Mass on Sunday, Sept. 16th at St. Joseph Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. at a special mass celebrated by Bishop Richard Malone and homilist, Deacon Jorge Silva.

We require 2 years’ experience in maintenance and repair, plus janitorial, snow etc. Drug screening required. Send resume to [email protected], 328 Washington Ave. (366-1750 x4) by Sept.10th.

Grandparent Day We salute the grandparents of the parish especially for your gentle, yet persistent sharing of personal faith with a new generation.

September is National Recovery Month Each September, the Western New York Catholic newspaper aligns itself with National Recovery Month to partner with others to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance abuse disorders, and to also celebrate individuals living in recovery. Now in its 29th year, the 2018 Recovery Month observance focuses on urban communities, health care providers, members of the media, and policymakers, highlighting the various entities that support recovery within our society. Western New York Catholic newspaper, will work to highlight inspiring stories that help thousands of people from all walks of life find the path to hope, health, and wellness. Recovery Month spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and that people can and do recover. Too many people have become caught in the web of addiction and they NEED God’s people to reach out to them with loving encouragement for recovery. Let’s reach out to them IN JESUS NAME!
