WelcomeAirfield Estate is about blue skies, broad horizons, about the
different, the unusual. We’ve a history that informs our approach.
Yet we are far from stuffy. We don’t really do stuffy. (We don’t
always have blue skies either, but unfortunately we can’t control the
weather!)
What we do is engage, look for the possible and seek out how we
might work together. This might be for an away day, a wedding or
a team function, but at the heart of everything, we want to make
experiences together, drawing on our unique environment, but also
on the enormous enthusiasm we as a team possess. We simply
create, innovate and let you enjoy.
What’s on offer at Airfield estate?Airfield Estate is a working farm. We have cows, pigs, donkey’s,
sheep, chickens and goats to name a few. We’ve also got 38 acres
of rich agricultural land, ornamental gardens, a state of the art
interactive heritage experience, a restaurant which prides itself on
good, honest estate harvested food and multi-functional event and
education spaces.
Oh and we’re a charity. All located a short walk from the LUAS
station at Balally and just a stone’s throw from the M50. We
consider ourselves a rural experience in an urban location.
Dundrum village is a mere five minutes’ walk and we’ve ample car
parking. You can also land a helicopter (but in a field rather than
on a helipad) and we’ve parking for coaches. We don’t encourage
stretch limos or blacked out cars, it’s just not our thing. We do,
however, welcome the odd pony and trap (grazing and water are
complimentary!).
Our mission
We’ve a simple mission to deliver experiences that connect
people with food and the land it comes from. For us this means
everything from start to finish; fork (pitch fork that is) to plate
and sustainability of home-grown Irish produce.
Airfield Packages
We could detail lots of information
around our event packages but to be
honest, it’s far more in keeping with
Airfield Estate to show you some of the
things we’ve done before and start from
what you’re trying to achieve.
That way we get to create, and you, we
hope, get something that’s really special
to you. We focus on creating memories,
good ones at that!
We can do all the things others do, but
usually not in the same way. We like to
tailor make what happens, that way in a
very real sense it’s yours.
How to use
Airfield EstateRoughly speaking the estate for events divides into the ‘built’
environment - the family home, the hive, the barn and restaurant
and then there’s the ‘open’ environment - the paddocks, open fields
and beautifully landscaped lawns and gardens. But they link to each
other too.
Our culture and approach to events is very much driven by
the Overend sisters, Letitia and Naomi. They were rather an
inspirational pair, travelling extensively, servicing their own cars and
devoting their lives to organisations like the St John Ambulance.
Intrepid, adventurous, caring, interested and visionary, they’re a real
benchmark for us today.
All we ask is that you try not to see us as one thing. We like to
link things together: field to plate, people to people, history to
the present, culture to the experience and the past so it can be
harnessed to deliver memories today and for tomorrow.
We’ve hosted drinks
in the farmyard
followed by dinner in
the house
We’ve even had
festivals in the Fairy
Field (albeit in a rather
amazing tent!)
We’ve had receptions
on the front lawn
followed by dinner &
dancing in the green barn
Get up close in the
farmyard milking
parlour or simply help
feed the chickens
We can arrange
for you to drive in our
1927 vintage Rolls-Royce.

Style of food & serviceRelaxed, robust, honest and homely is
how we like to describe it. In many
instances harvested from less than
500 metres away in our own farm and
gardens.
We don’t do posh. Or fine dining for
that matter. We’ve a fantastic chef and
kitchen brigade who focus on taking great
ingredients and cooking them simply.
There’s no frippery, we want things to
taste of themselves. As for our style of
service, there is nothing silver about it;
polite, professional and customer focused
– the way it should be.
The weather We’re weatherproofed in as much as we have contingencies in
place for all events which we will go through with you, but the
reality is it’s far less of a problem then you might think.
But we’re here to give you comfort, so there’s no brushing
the reality aside. We need to make sure you’re all dry, warm
and comfortable and sometimes that means being dressed
in wellington boots and proper coats (but then we often
encourage frocks and sun hats too so it depends a lot on the
time of year).
The teamWe don’t really do the departmental thing. We’ve a very small
expert team who work together and everyone has specific
responsibilities. We talk more than we report. We analyse and fix,
we review and discuss. It’s part of who and what we are. Titles
exist because they have to. But not in big letters on office doors.
Everyone understands where they need to be. Organise your next
event with us and we will endeavour to make sure you talk with
the same person from start to finish.
Why choose Airfield? It’s a question we ask ourselves a
great deal. We know there’s a lot of
competition out there. Because we’re
different, because we tailor make events,
building them from the ground up,
together, with you, the customer. Because
at Airfield Estate what you get is unique,
special.
Our job is not to persuade you, but to
let you see for yourself what we do and
leave you to make your own decision.
We want you to be honest with us as
much as we want to be honest with you.
A real partnership. Airfield Estate has
been here for many years and will be in
the future so it matters to us that the
right decisions are made, all of the time.
Be part of itAirfield Estate is a canvas. It’s hardly a blank one though, what
with all the animals, vegetables and historic buildings. We want to
engage, to make exciting things happen. To see the estate used in
innovative and creative ways. Our history is important to us as it
gives context to a lot of what we do. Two Irish sisters who lived
life to the full, were game for so many things and enjoyed so much
have given us a rich environment to share with you. Let us make
things happen!
TestimonialsIt was a fantastic experience from start to finish and we could not say
enough good things about it. The staff on the evening itself were all
consistently wonderful and the feedback from all was that there was a
real sense of people loving their jobs and working as a team which was
lovely to be on the receiving end of and made the evening so much
more enjoyable as a result. Several people commented on the personal
touch of the staff from walking them out to ensuring they were enjoying
the evening. Morgan McKinley
I would like to pass on our delight at our corporate event held in
Airfield Estate last week. Having our event at Airfield provided us with
privacy and flexibility which we would not have gotten at an ordinary
restaurant. Having the house and gardens to ourselves enabled us
to relax and have a pleasant walk around before dinner, this was
welcomed by all as we had a tough day in the office. The house and
gardens are fantastic and the guide helped to put everything in context.
The food was exceptional and the service impeccable. Novartis
Just a quick note to say a massive Thank You to all of the staff at
Airfield Estate for making our event such a great success. The staff
should be highly commended on their professionalism and friendliness.
The food, service and presentation was second to none and would not
hesitate using Airfield Estate again as a future event. Chill Insurance
