4/11Perché il diamante?
Il diamante è un materiale d’elezione per la realizzazione di rivelatori per sorgenti X ed UV di elevata intensità, grazie ad una serie di proprietà chimico-fisiche di estremo interesse:
• è chimicamente inerte• ha la più alta energia di coesione (7.45 eV/atom)• è insensibile al danno da radiazione• è trasparente nelle regioni spettrali VIS e IR• ha un’ampia gap (5.45 eV)• ha una bassa conducibilità elettrica (< 10-15 S/cm)• ha la più alta conducibilità termica (22 Wcm-1K-1)
