Research Experience: Investigation of nanostructured TiO2/CuInS2 solar cells. Nanostructured cells offer unique potential for low-cost, high efficiency energy conversion. I applied impedance measurement and AFM-based local probe techniques to understand the role of the nanostructured interface in determining solar cell performance.

Teaching Experience: Guest Lecturer at TU Delft in NS3541: Nanoparticulate Materials, a graduate-level nanotechnology class.

Research Experience: Coordinated ongoing research in the area of AFM electrochemistry, PEM fuel cell kinetic and mass transport scaling, and nano-scale catalytic properties. Lead author for a new upper level undergraduate/grad level fuel cell textbook.

Teaching Experience: Designer and instructor for ME 260: Fuel Cell Science and Technology. Offered for the first time in 2004, this class provided advanced undergraduates/introductory graduates a chance to learn and apply the fundamentals behind fuel cell science and technology.

Supervisory Experience: Supervised one Ph.D. graduate student studying kinetic scaling in nano-size Pt catalyst particles.

1999-2004 Graduate Research Assistant, Stanford University, Stanford, CA. Department of Materials Science and Engineering (Thesis Advisor: Fritz B. Prinz)

Research Experience: Developed a novel spatially resolved impedance measurement system for the investigation of heterogeneous electrochemical systems. Collaborated on miniature fuel cell systems development using silicon MEMS and printed circuit board technologies. Successfully investigated various scaling phenomena in miniature fuel cell systems including ultra-thin film catalyst deployment and lateral ionic conduction in planar array fuel cells. Established testing and measurement facilities for fuel cell characterization including electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and atomic force microscopy.Supervisory Experience: Supervised three undergraduate students. One developed a refillable direct methanol fuel cell device; two others developed a fuel cell scooter.
