Donated Gift Baskets Will Help Employees In Need

Our Goal: Register 1,000 New Organ DonorsHartford Hospital is the leading desti-nation for organ transplant in the re-gion, and we were recently awarded the Silver Medal of Honor from the De-partment of Health and Human Servic-es for success in increasing the number of organs available and transplanted.

Hartford Hospital was the only Con-necticut hospital to win one of these medals this year.

Last year, 28,000 lives were saved in the United States thanks to those who generously gave life through organ do-nation. But more donors are urgently needed.

There are currently more than 110,000 men, women, and children in the Unit-ed States waiting for a life-saving trans-plant. More than 3,400 of these individ-uals live in the New England region.

Every 12 minutes another name is add-ed to the national waiting list and each day 18 people die while they wait for their transplant.

As part of our mission to im-prove health care in our com-munity, we have joined forc-es with the Donate Life New England Donor Register with a goal of registering 1,000 new organ donors.

You can join the Donate Life New England Donor Registry by going to http://becomeadonor.org.

On the registration page, please be sure to select “Hartford Hospital” from the “How did you hear about…” drop-down menu.

You will become part of a computer data base of people who have made the decision to be donors. It allows or-gan and tissue donation professionals to determine at the time of death if you had registered to be a donor, so that your wish to donate can be fulfilled.

Please help Hartford Hospital register 1,000 new organ donors. It’s the most valuable gift you’ll ever give.

Donate Gifts to IOL’s StorePlease help us to make this season brighter for the families we serve in our Child & Adoles-cent Services at the IOL by making a do-nation to the “Cel-ebrations Shop.” Throughout the year, “Celebrations,” housed in the IOL

Child & Adolescent Outpatient Clinic, has provided a “shop” where families facing difficult financial times can select gifts for the holidays as well as for their chil-dren’s birthdays, graduations, and special achievements. We do not charge the fam-ilies for anything they select.

We always welcome donations of new toys, books, and gift items for teens and children of all ages. Gift bags, birthday cards, wrapping paper and bows are also appreciated. Monies raised through con-tributions will be used to purchase gift cards which will be given to families that are in particular need of extra support. We gratefully accept donations throughout the year. If you’d like to make a donation, please contact Nelis Bidó-Jiménez at ex-tension 5-7035.
