PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Each year, Clinical Scholars invests in experienced health care providers ready to embark on a transformative personal and professional journey. Clinical Scholars Fellows advance their leadership skills and implement a team-based health equity project in their community.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To drive important change in every aspect of health and health care, the program seeks collaborative, curious teams from a wide range of disciplines and settings. Clinical Scholars Fellows apply in teams of two to five licensed health care providers, each with:

• Five or more years post-training and licensure in their chosen health profession.

• Community-focused research or program experience.

• Active roles seeing patients and/or training or supervising other providers.

• At least one team member who has a terminal degree for practice in their field.

PROGRAM ELEMENTS

Over the course of the three-year program, participants will:

• Receive grant funding—ranging from upto $210,000 for a two-person team to amaximum of $525,000 for a five-personteam—to design and implement a real-world project, including salary support andproject funding.

• Receive evidence-based and equity-centered training in leadershiptools, policy, evaluation, communityengagement, and other topics fromnational experts.

• Participate in semi-annual week-longonsites reinforced by distance-basedlearning and executive coaching thatallows them to stay in their jobs andparticipate from their home communities.All travel expenses for onsites are providedto fellows at no cost.

• Become part of a national network ofleaders spanning sectors and disciplines inhealth care and beyond.

RESULTS: ENHANCED SKILLS AND LEADERSHIP

Upon completion, fellows will be equipped to:

• Understand their leadership style and how to be increasingly effective.

• Advocate for positive change within their teams, organizations, and communities.

• Promote creative thinking, innovation, and thought diversity.

• Appraise, synthesize, and use evidence to guide practice and inform policy.

• Communicate, engage, and negotiate in a manner that creates win/win outcomes forall stakeholders.
