Student Workers Responsibilities IT Department Support Help Student workers are responsible for the smooth running of the computer labs. Other tasks may be asked of you in addition to your duties you are to take those duties just as serious. Although this is a Student Worker position and you are able to do homework you still have responsibilities. If for any reason a student is unruly, loud or pertains a threat to you or other student call Campus Police. If you need supplies such as; printer paper, ink, staples, etc. contact your supervisor of that lab. Monitor Make sure students are not bringing in food or beverages; beverages must be in an approved container. o FOOD MUST BE put away, disposed of, or consumed by student (outside of lab or adjacent classrooms) NO DISPOSABLE CUPS such as; McDonald’s, Meg’s Daily Grind, Starbucks, soda cans, etc. o Disposable cups must be put in designated area or disposed of by student. Only Bottles or cups with tops that will prevent spillage if dropped or knocked over. Printer o Unjam printer o Change ink cartridges Mark the old cartridge box “OLD” or “USED” SC take it to Information Desk ERC take it to Circulation Desk or designated area WTC place it in the designated area o Refill paper in printer o Report any error codes to IT Support Help Desk Put an out of order sign if needed NO CELL PHONE USE IN COMPUTER LAB o This also means in the WTC in front of classrooms or washrooms o Sound are turned off RVC Student Worker Responsibilities In Computer Labs Page 1 of 4

Assist student to understand their homework Be able to identify which computers have specialty software.

Cleaning Desks Computer screens Wipe down CPU Prep area Adjacent Classrooms Debris left by students picked up and thrown away

Lost & FoundAll personal items such as school work, eyeglasses, clothing, cell phone accessories, etc. must be identified if possible. All cellphones, purses, wallets, keys, laptops, or any other valuables Contact Campus Police and put item is a safe place until Campus Police comes and picks it up.

If Identified

Once item has been identified write the students name, today’s date, and your initials on card or paper and attach it to the item.

Email student through your RVC Mail account to inform them that their item has been found and where. Then to information them where to pick them up.

Flash Drive All flash drives that have been found in the lab must be identified by viewing files within. Once flash drive has been identified write the students name, today’s date, and your initials on

card or paper and attach it to the flash drive. Email student through your RVC Mail account to inform them that their flash drive was found

and where. Then to information them where to pick them up.o WTC Computer Lab
