Hello! Welcome back to Ruth’s (un)Officially Wacky Boolprop Challenge! It’ been a long time – too long – and you’ve probably forgotten all the important Plot points, so let me see if I can remind you.

Olga has gone off to college. Pitti-Sing was engaged (in childhood) to the son of Old Adam’s friend Ygraine. Casilda was chosen as heiress. Olga deliberately made Pitti-Sing afraid of the Red-Headed League in order to get her way. Glen, Casilda, Nanki-Poo and Deadeye aged up. Old Adam died and was resurrected, making him Officially younger than Glen. Leila died and was resurrected at the end of her spin-off,* contracting retrograde amnesia and forgetting all about her pregnancy. I think that should do it.

First thing in the morning of Day One of the rotation, this highly suspicious character showed up at the house.

And I do mean “first thing in the morning.” I think it was quarter after midnight, which is just about as early in the morning as it is technically possible to get.

Page 3: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

Now, Old Adam is no fool, and all entrances have been equipped with expensive burglar alarms for years. Now we know they work.

OLD ADAM: Yes, that’s the way, madam! Now a left to the jaw! Do not regard the Marquis of Queensbury* -- this person is no gentlewoman, and deserves no quarter!

Old Adam, I remind you, has only one Nice point.

*The Marquis of Queensbury formulated the rules of boxing, including things like “No hitting below the belt” and so on.

Page 4: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

And even when things get scary, there’s nothing a little pie and a talk with Daddy can’t fix.

GLEN: … So the police officer is taking the bad lady away to jail, and we don’t have to worry about her coming back here ever.DEADEYE: Mhmpf.GLEN: Do you feel better now?DEADEYE: Maybe. (disingenuously) I think another piece of pie would help.

…Does it make me a bad person if I suspect Deadeye of maybe exaggerating how scared he was because there was pie in the offing?

Page 5: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

And then the tornado hit.

Page 6: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

Both the house and the Tacky Flamingo required some reconstruction afterwards, but nothing too drastic. In fact, the main difference between the old Tacky Flamingo and the new one is that the porch on the new one is two tiles wide instead of one, for better traffic flow and less stompy-waving.

Management has not changed, and Swimsuit Bowling Night remains as popular as ever.

I can’t think why, can you?

Page 8: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

With a few long nights and the help of Mr. Squinge’s Customer Loyalty Star, the business is back up to Level 7.

Please note: I am only using the Customer Loyalty Star because I had to rebuild. I did get the business to Level 10 the hard way already.

Page 9: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

I took advantage of the rebuild to redecorate and also to take portraits of each of Lisa and Glens predecessors before redeceasing them.

Casilda relearned the xylophone trick. Relearned it twice, actually, because I had to revert to backup once.

Page 10: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

And all the kids got A+ grades, both times.

The new portraits don’t eliminate the need for properly Official family portraits, of course, so Glen is painting them.

Again.

The first time through, Casilda ordered a blind date, and ended up with Gallagher Newson.

GALLAGHER: Um, who’s the old guy? And why is he looking at me like that?

OLD ADAM: O, do not mind me! I am fully fit, trained in aikido,* and most protective of my granddaughter. I think I shall just stand here for a bit.

GALLAGHER: I think I hear my mother calling… (flees)

*This is an innocent fiction a regular terrible story. Old Adam does not actually know aikido, which is largely defensive anyway.

Page 12: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

The first time through the day I had to repeat, Draupadi came by and stole the gnome.

Page 13: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

The second time through, Draupadi just played nicely with Deadeye.

DEADEYE: Wheeeeeee! Ha Ha! This is fun! You’re the best! I’m going to marry you when I grow up!

DRAUPADI (indulgently): Are you now? Even if I… let go? (loosens her grip on Deadeye momentarily before grasping him firmly again)

DEADEYE: (delighted shriek)

Page 14: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

DEADEYE (confidently): I’m going to marry Draupadi when I grow up.

PITTI-SING: You can’t marry Draupadi. She’s older than you. By the time you’re old enough to get married, she’ll already be married to someone else.

DEADEYE: No she won’t.

PITTI-SING: Yes she will.

Page 15: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

OLD ADAM (to Deadeye): I fear that whether the young lady in question is married or not is completely immaterial, for you were betrothed in utero – er, in abdominis – to your Aunt Leila’s oldest child. Your papa was quite concerned that you would not be a true Shankel otherwise.

DEADEYE: But Aunt Leila doesn’t have children.

OLD ADAM: Not at the moment, but we are quite a fertile family, and I have no doubt that she will at some point bear children. And then you can marry one. Just as your sister will marry the son of my friend Ygraine.

PITTI-SING: No I won’t.

Page 16: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

OLD ADAM: Yes, my dear, you will.

PITTI-SING: No I won’t. We have to meet and agree to the marriage before I age to Adult, and I won’t meet him. He’s poor as a rat, and he lives in a trailer, and everything.

OLD ADAM: If you would just meet the young man…

PITTI-SING: No! I am not marrying someone who is poor as a rat!

DEADEYE (confidently): And I am too going to marry Draupadi. You’ll see.

And speaking of aging up…

Lisa aged up in the evening of Day One. She looks good, but the youthful long hair was replaced with a more elegant updo.

Page 18: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

You can’t see the updo very well in this picture, but you can see the last career reward needed to fulfill the Workaholics Anonymous bonus there at the bottom of the stairs. You can also see the pop-up proving that Lisa reached the correct level to earn it, fair and square, since I have Sophie-David’s buyable career rewards and use them freely for building purposes.

Yes, I have now installed Free Time and Apartment Life, and yes, those do come with new careers and career rewards, but I started with one set of EPs and rules, ad I don’t think it’s at all cheaty to finish under the same rules. I did the same thing in my asylum challenge* when it turned out I had harderjobs in. SPOILER: It made the asylum harder.

Nanki-Poo aged up on Day Three and promptly received the most rock-and-roll look I could give him.

Or, well, the most rock-and-roll look I could give him that I thought his parents would allow a thirteen-year-old to wear.

Nanki-Poo is a Knowledge/Grilled Cheese sim. He likes fit girls who wear full-face makeup, but only if they don’t wear hats.

Page 20: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

And you know the rules: If one twin ages up, the other one has to age up at the same time. Deadeye has the most nautical look I can manage, which is admittedly not very nautical.

Deadeye is Family/Fortune. He likes fat girls in formal wear, provided (logically enough) that they are not athletic.

Page 21: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

Glen still enjoys gazing at the starts where he got his little green babies. Even if they are no longer babies. Or particularly little anymore. And even if there is no possibility of more babies.

Page 22: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

One of those no-longer-little-but-still-green babies was surprised by his great-grandmother’s ghost, which was not exactly unpleasant, but which definitely fell under the category of “Things That I Would Prefer To Remain Unusual Occurrences, Thanks.”

Page 23: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

The shock triggered an instinctive teleportation reaction, which is totally a thing aliens have been able to do in my game since the very beginning, just like being able to talk to me.

Is it my fault they don’t use either ability very much?

Page 24: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

Penny has headed off to vo-tech,* Jo has become a fish chummer, and Phoenix’s newly-honed ability to at least fake sight-reading any piece of music put in front of him is making him really popular at parties.

*Vocational-technical college – for my non-American readers, this is basically, a trade school.

Page 25: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

Skye has acquired a new husband, 7/9 of a new baby, and an actual roof. Most of these acquisitions are predominantly blue.

Page 26: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

Although she is Lisa’s twin, Leila was resurrected and had her lifebar reset. Leila and Abhijeet have not yet succeeded in their attempts to conceive, but Leila is advancing steadily in her career, and now that I’ve rebuilt, Abhijeet is a properly proper brujo. Since he also doesn’t take kindly to male coworkers showing an interest in Leila, it’s a good thing he’s a neutral brujo.

Page 27: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

Rose and Dmitri are fairly gung-ho Family Sims, so it should come as no surprise that there is another family member on the way. It will probably be the last one, though, since Rose is getting close to the end of her fertility.

Page 28: Ruth's (u)OWBC 30: About A Century Since

Phoebe, Chant, Nicholas, and Draupadi have moved to a new farm. It’s called “Oakapple Farm,” just like the one one was, and it has a few less garden plots, but more fruit trees. And chickens. It has infinitely more chickens.

And that is all the pictures I have. Until next time, Happy Simming!
