P H I L A D E L P H I A A U T O S H O WRutgers Formula Racing attended the Philadelphia Auto Show for the first time this year, displaying both the RFR 2016 and 2017. Villanova, UPenn, and Temple joined RFR in the student racing teams section of the event. Members from RFR had the pleasure to speak with many car enthusiasts and members of the industry. Members of the E-board and various other members of RFR were happy to have the opportunity to display past cars as design leads work diligently to complete the RFR 2018, which will be on display at the New York International Auto Show.It was very exciting to attend the auto show in Philadelphia as the city prepared for the super bowl. Fortunately, we were able to pack up in time to beat the celebration on Super Bowl Sunday.

“My experience as a new member has generally been going to the shop and getting my hands on projects and helping out the other members with their projects. Specifically, I am on the suspension subteam, but I try to get involved with all parts of the car to learn as much as I can and get as much experience as I can. I also had the opportunity to design front and rear rockers for the 2016 vehicle to get experience for designing in the future. I have used Optimum Lap and SolidWorks very frequently so far on the team. I had a training session for Mastercam with the power train lead and I am still learning how to use it. For manufacturing, I have made many parts on the mill and lathe. I

have also had the experience to watch people using the CNC mill. I have also spent time making carbon fiber parts. In high school, I had the opportunity to be on my high school’s shell eco marathon efficiency team. To me, the Rutgers Formula Racing team at Rutgers was the next step in my career path. I view this team as a major symbol of the engineering department at Rutgers and it is also a very fun and exciting project which I had no doubt I wanted to be involved with. Furthermore, this team gives me the opportunity to work on a project that I hope my future career will be like!” - Julian Sowa, Class of 2021
