Friendship With Surrounding Districts • Without
support and friendship with Russian Rotarians in D2220 we could not sustain. When you don’t have enough PDGs – go to neighbors for advice!

Visits of International Experienced Rotarians • When friends come –
more things become clear. Kim Bauriedel from RC Aurica (CA, USA) visited Russia many times. This year he traveled to many clubs in 2225. His experience and advices converted in many join projects and grants.

2013 RI CONVENTION
In 1921 at the RI Convention in Edinburgh, Rotary International adopted its 4th Avenue of Service –
‘to advance international understanding, goodwill and Peace’.
2013 RI CONVENTION
This became one of the targets of ICCs some years later when the Franco-German ICC was
started in 1950
2013 RI CONVENTION
These aims were encapsulated in the United Nations Organisation (UN) in 1945 and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in 1949.
It was to embrace the intentions of these International Institutions capable of guaranteeing Peace, that ICCs were created
2013 RI CONVENTION
Mission of the ICCs (approved by the Board June 2007)
The mission of an intercountry committee is to build a force that will encourage Rotarians to visit each other’s countries and homes, to strengthen friendships and projects so formed by encouraging clubs and districts to connect with clubs and districts in other countries, and to contribute to world peace.

What is the role of these 9 Russian ICCs and the 350 ICCs worldwide ?
Robert Haussman in 1950
We must be recognised as the proponents of Peace
To enable nations to work for mutual understanding and to bring the peoples closer together.
“Rotarians must be from now on at the forefront of the peace ideal ”
2013 RI CONVENTION
We must have a hands-on approach to advancethe culture of Peace and with that aim we must
enliven UN’s World Pact, as signed by Rotary in 2010
2013 RI CONVENTION
This World Pact states that the voluntary act of enterprises and associations is fully committed to adopt and support within their sphere of influence - The rights of man, the right to education, the right to work, the right to clean water, the right to a healthy environment
it pledges itself to protect women and children and to fight against corruption of all kinds
2013 RI CONVENTION
ICCs, as a tool in the service of Rotary International, will contribute to the happiness of mankind
in a World of Peace

THE FIRST ICC
The first ICC between Germany and France was created between the two World Wars, but was officially founded on 23 May 1950 in Strasbourg during the district 70 conference. The ICC was the brainchild of Robert Haussman and Roger Coutant and its purpose was to reestablish Rotary relations between the two countries, which were strained during the Nazi era.
That day, Robert Haussman stated that “Rotarians must be from now on at the forefront of the peace ideal.”
