Rural healthcare never looked so good.

The mission of the corporation is to provide access to total health care services for all people

with an emphasis on preventative care and education with self-care and health mainte-

nance being the end result. This will be achieved through effective program management,

fully equipped medical facilities and by the recruitment and development of highly qualified

and highly dedicated health care professionals willing to serve the rural populations.

Mountain Valleys Health Centers, Inc. (MVHC) is a not-for-profit Community Health Center Or-

ganization offering quality health and dental care to rural communities in Northeastern Califor-

nia for over 30 years. We are the only primary care providers in the communities we serve and it

is our goal to provide “top of the line” comprehensive health care to our patients. We strive to

recruit the best medical providers, dentists, and behavioral health specialists available and pro-

vide them with quality staff.

All five of MVHC’s sites are designated as Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC). As an

FQHC, our goal is to promote wellness and not only treat “sick people.” We accomplish this

through community outreach and health educators. FQHCs are recognized across the country

as the “safety net” for health care.

As state licensed, non-profit health care facilities, Mountain Valleys Health Centers are pleased to

offer service to all, regardless of ability to pay. We offer a sliding fee scale for the low income

without any health coverage. We also accept Medicare, Medi-Cal and most private insurance.

MVHC corporate offices are located in Bieber, CA at Big Valley Health Center. Bieber is located 95 miles NE of Redding, CA; 153 miles NW of Reno, NV; and 90 miles SE of Klamath Falls, OR. Burney, Fall River Mills, and Bieber all sit on the Hwy 299 E. corridor.

Dorris is located on Hwy 97 and Tulelake is located on Hwy 139. Hwy 161 runs through the beautiful Klamath National Wildlife Refuge and serves as the main road between the two cities.

Our Locations

Mountain Valleys Health Centers, Inc. is a network of five (5) small health centers

located in northeastern California. Spanning over 6,000 square miles, our service

area is full of outdoor recreation and wilderness activities which include the

world famous fly fishing on Hat Creek and Fall River, boating, water skiing, hunt-

ing, camping, hiking, golfing, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, river rafting,

and picnicking. Our service area also offers small craft airports, bowling, movie

theaters, museums, libraries, college outreach facilities, fitness centers, fine and

casual dining, and an Indian gaming casino.

From the Beginning In 1981, Big Valley Medical Services was formed in Bieber, CA. In 2001, a merger with the

Butte Valley/Tulelake Rural Health Project created Mountain Valleys Health Centers. In

2002, Intermountain Family Practice merged with MVHC and the communities of Burney

and Fall River were added to our service area.

With the support of our communities, patients, and hard-working staff, we successfully

survived the growing pains involved with the mergers. The merge into Mountain Valleys

Health Centers created a strong Community Health Center system with high expertise in

quality healthcare, executive leadership, and teamwork.

In 2014, we served nearly 10,000 patients and performed over 40,000 visits in our service

area.

MVHC’s physician staff serves as the medical staff to Mayers Memorial Hospital in Fall River

Mills. We work very closely with MMH by admitting and rounding patients as well as

caring for those in long term care.
