WiMAX Overview o Cisco RAN technology changes the economic model of WiMAX deployments
• Lower Capex/Opex by up-to-50% - reduced backhaul CAPEX/OPEX, fewer towers (site acquisitions)
o Deploying Cisco RAN can solve the 30-50% indoor coverage holes
o Stronger indoor coverage means that Service Providers can focus on capacity growth rather than augmenting capacity due to coverage issues
o More subscribers in higher modulation schemes equates to more efficient use of available spectrum
o As part of the E2E value proposition, Cisco has developed a complete basestation portfolio strategy that includes
1. Macro Base Stations with advanced antenna configurations (8TX 8RX)
2. Micro base stations for capacity underlay.
3. Pico base stations for filling coverage gaps.
