If Matthew wanted to say that we are to be flawless or sinless, he would have used the Greek word άψογος which literally means “flawless”.

Because what Jesus wants from us has been misrepresented throughout our lives.

The unrealistic expectations cause us to be disappointed with ourselves and subsequently disappointed in everyone else.
