ArticlesHow to Start Blogging!By showing interest to read this article, you have proved that you are serious about blogging and working hard to learn the methods to start a blog.

1. Identify your interestThe very first thing you will have to find is your knowledge, passion, interest or enthusiasm about any topic. This topic could be a programming language which you are already using in your company; this could be specific job catego-ry (like Marketing, HR Manager etc.) or this could be your passion for iPhone. On whatever stage you are in your life, we all have some special skill-sets and passions which drive us.

2. Domain Name for your BlogA domain name is the name of your website. For Example: google.com, yahoo.com, msn.com, wikipedia.com, akshay.com or any name of a website are called do-main names, so once you have decided your topic for the blogging, the very next thing is domain name. Companies like GoDaddy, NameCheap, BigRock are one of the top do-main provider companies in the world.

3. Hosting For Your BlogYou have selected your domain name. Now the question is – Where are you going to save your data online? Your blog will have some texts, images, videos and many other things. Where are you going to store all those things on the internet?

Here comes the role of hosting.A hosting is an online server which helps you to store your data.So your domain name will be the name of your website, and all the data of that website will be stored on the server (called as hosting). As the data is very crucial thing for your blog so you must select the hosting company very carefully.

4. Content Management SystemThis is the system which will help you to add the content on your blog.WordPress for the blog which is one of the top content management systems in the world has over 60 millions websites in the world running on it.

This is as simple as working with Microsoft Word. They have given awesome visual editor which you can use to do various activities like bold, italic, underline, hyper-link, color, font, font size etc.

5. Grab All Social Media IdentitiesAll big companies have integrated social media in their business. They are launching their products exclusively on social media sites and interacting with their customers directly like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Skype, Google+, Instagram, tumblr. So the very first task after buying domain, hosting and set-ting WordPress is grabbing all your social media identities. You can check the availability of your business by going to namecheckr.com.

6. Start WritingYeah…Start writing from today itself. Your blog is nothing without you. All you will have to do to make it a blog is start writing today. No matter how well you are in English, no matter how much knowledge do you have about your subject, and no matter how you feel about your writing, your blog will grow only and only when you start writing.

How to buy, send and invest in the digital currency?

“Bitcoin is the beginning of something great: a currency without a government, something necessary and impera-tive.”- Nassim Taleb, author of The Black Swan.

Bitcoin is an electronic or digital currency that works on a peer-to-peer basis. This means that it is decentralized and has no central authority controlling it. Like currency notes, it can be sent from one person to another, but with-out a central bank or the government attempting to track it. The system depends on cryptography to control the cre-ation of the currency. While no one authority controls the generation of the coins or tracks them, the system itself is designed in such a way that the network maintains a foolproof system of the record of every transaction as well as tracking issuance of the currency. The beauty of this cryptocurrency is that if you receive a bitcoin from an-other, you can be as sure of the payment as you would on receiving physical currency notes, with the same

Page 16: Rukmini Educational Charitable Trust Criya · 2018-03-19 · Volume 6 - Issue 1 June-2017 Criya Campus Address: Rukmini Knowledge Park, Kattigenahalli, Yelahanka, Bengaluru - 560

anonymity ascribed to it. No one need know if your neigh-bor spent 2 bitcoins this morning to buy gold, but the transaction is recorded for posterity. This anonymity is lacking in other forms of digital payment such as online banking or e-wallets. You can send bitcoins digitally to an-yone who has a bitcoin address anywhere in the globe. One person could have multiple addresses for different purpos-es – personal, business and the like. Receivers can get to spend them within minutes of receiving the coins. Once given away, like currency, there is no getting them back, unless the receiver decides to give them to you. A bitcoin is not printed currency but is a non-reputable record of every transaction that it has been through. All this is part of a huge ledger called the blockchain. Bitcoins are available in bitcoin exchanges. You could also purchase bitcoins from other users. A bitcoin exchange traded fund could be an-other source in the near future. You can become a bitcoin miner by investing in software and hardware. More the power of the hardware that helps with encryption technol-ogy, higher the probability of your earning bitcoins. Uno-coin is a Bengaluru-based company that allows users to buy, sell, store or use bitcoins. While bitcoin usage is cer-tainly not mainstream, there are said to be more than 500 merchants who accept bitcoins for payment in India. A bitcoin is generated when an entity, i.e. a person or a busi-ness, uses software power to solve a mathematical puz-zle that makes the blockchain more secure. The difficulty level of solving the problem is high enough to ensure that it takes time to do it. Even if you become a bitcoin min-er, there is no guarantee that you would be able to mine a certain number of bitcoins. Any scheme related to bitcoins

promising a fixed return is likely a tall promise best avoided. Unlike currency notes that can be printed by a central bank for an unlimited value, there are only so many bitcoins that can be produced. The blockchain system is designed such that at its maximum only 21 million bitcoins can be produced and in circulation. The number cannot exceed this cap. As of February 2017, about 15.2 million bitcoins have been mined (or produced). That is about 75% of the total cap already in cir-culation. Current estimates are that the last bitcoin that will ever be mined will come into existence in 2040. One bitcoin is worth roughly about $1,200 now. An early investor in Snap-chat has been quoted on the Web as saying that by 2030, the value could be as high as $500,000. One of the reasons that could prompt you to buy a bitcoin today is not so much to use it for payment online but as an investment. Urban legend has it that someone who was doing a thesis on cryptocurrency bought 5,000 bitcoins for $27 in 2009. Do the math for the value today! And unlike traditional currency that is inflationary in nature, the bitcoin is a deflationary currency. In other words, if there are only so many bitcoins in use, and the demand for those rises, the value of a bitcoin would, logically, rise. When you send a bitcoin to a receiver, the transaction is included in the blockchain and broadcast to the network. The blockchain ensures that the same bitcoin is not spent twice by the same user. A computer network validates the transaction using al-gorithms so that the transaction becomes unalterable. Once validated, the transaction is added to others to create a block of data for the ledger. Source : The Hindu

What Is Time Management?Working Smarter to Enhance Productivity!

“Time Management” is the process of organizing and plan-ning how to divide your time between specific activities. Good Time Management enables you to work smarter – not harder – so that you get more work done in less time, even when time is tight and pressures are high. Failing to manage your time damages your effectiveness and causes stress.

“Time Management” refers to the way that you organize and plan how long you spend on specific activities. It may seem counter-intuitive to dedicate precious time to learning about Time Management, instead of using it to get on with your work, but the benefits are enormous:

• Greater Productivity and Efficiency• A better Professional Reputation• Less Stress• Increased Opportunities for Advancement• Greater Opportunities to achieve important life and Career Goals

Failing to manage your time effectively can have some very undesirable consequences:

• Missed Deadlines• Inefficient Workflow.• Poor work Quality.• A poor Professional reputation and a stalled Career.• Higher Stress levels.

Spending a little time learning about Time-Management techniques will have huge benefits now and throughout your career.

Biography – U.R.Rao (1932 – JULY 2017)

Udupi Ramachandra Rao was a space scientist and chairman of the Indian Space Research organization. He was also the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Physical Research Laboratory at Ahmedabad and Nehru Planetarium at Bengaluru and Chancellor of the Indian In-stitute for Space Science and Technology (IIST) at Thiruva-nanthapuram. Rao started his career as a cosmic ray scientist, and worked under Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, which he continued at MIT. In association with the JPL Group, he was the first to estab-lish the continuous nature of the solar wind and its effect on geomagnetism using Mariner 2 observations. Rao’s ex-periments on a number of Pioneer and Explorer spacecraft led to a complete understanding of the solar cosmic ray phenomena and the electromagnetic state of the inter-planetary space. Convinced of the imperative need to use space technology for rapid development, Rao undertook the responsibility for the establishment of satellite tech-nology in India in 1972. Under his guidance, beginning with the first Indian satellite “Aryabhata” in 1975, over 18 satellites including Bhaskara, APPLE, Rohini, INSAT-1 and INSAT-2 series of multipurpose satellites and the IRS-1A and IRS-1B remote sensing satellites were designed, fabri-cated and launched for providing communication, remote sensing and meteorological services. After taking charge as Chairman, Space Commission and Secretary, Department of Space in 1985, Rao accelerated the development of rocket technology resulting in the suc-cessful launch of ASLV rocket in 1992. He was also respon-sible for the development of the operational PSLV launch vehicle, which successfully launched a 850 kg. satellite into a polar orbit in 1995. Rao initiated the development of the geostationary launch vehicle GSLV and the devel-opment of cryogenic technology in 1991. He was respon-sible for successful launch of INSAT satellites during his Stint at ISRO. The launch of INSAT satellites gave a thrust to communications in India, during the 1980s and 1990s. The successful launch of INSAT provided telecommunica-tion links to remote corners of India. During these decades fixed telephone (called as landline) expanded throughout country due to availability of satellite links at different places in the ground. People could talk easily from any-where by use of STD (Subscriber Trunk Dialing) instead of waiting for hours to get the connection.[citation needed] This development played a key role in future for India to develop as an Information Technology hub. He was the first Chairman of Antrix Corporation. He received Padma Bhushana in 1976.

Mathai Joseph is a leading Indian computer scientist. Joseph studied for a B.Sc. in Physics at Wilson College (Mumbai, India, 1962) and an M.Sc. in the same subject at the University of Mumbai in 1964. He later studied for a Postgraduate Diploma in Electronics at the Welsh College of Advanced Technology (1965) and then undertook a Ph.D in computing at Churchill College, Cambridge under the supervision of David Wheeler (awarded 1968).

From 1968–85, Joseph worked on programming as a Fellow and Senior Research Scientist at the Tata Institute of Fun-damental Research (Mumbai, India) and then became pro-fessor of Computer Science at the University of Warwick in England for 12 years (1985–97). He returned to India in 1997. He then worked in Industry as Executive Director at the Tata Research Development and Design Centre (Pune) and as Executive Vice-President at Tata Consultancy Ser-vices (1997–2007).Joseph was a Visiting Professor at Carnegie-Mellon Uni-versity (1980–81), Eindhoven University of Technology (1990–92), the University of Warwick (1997–98), and the University of York (2001–04). He was Board Chair of UNU-IIST (2004–06, United Nations University, Macau).Joseph was the first person from India to be elected to the Council of the ACM. In addition, he was a member of the ACM In-dia Council until 2012. He chaired the ACM India Education Committee until 2014.Mathai Joseph’s main research interest is in the area of formal methods related to computer systems, including re-al-time systems. His most cited paper, “Finding Response Times in a Real-Time System”, with over a thousand cita-tions on Google Scholar, was joint work with Paritosh Pan-dya, published in The Computer Journal in 1986. Joseph’s joint work with Zhiming Liu on fault tolerance gives a formal model that precisely defines the notions of fault, error, failure and fault-tolerance, and their relation-ships. It also provided the properties that models fault-af-fected programs and fault-tolerant programs in terms of

transformations. Together, they proposed a design process for fault-tolerant systems from requirement specifications and analysis, fault environment identification and analy-sis, specification of fault-affected design and verification of fault-tolerance for satisfaction of the requirements specification. Joseph is the author of Digital Republic, a personal remi-niscence that also charts the development of Information Technology in India and the issues involved. He is inter-ested in improving Science in India. Some of the books written by Dr. Mathai Joseph are: Foun-dations of Software Technology and Theoretical Computer Science, Formal Techniques in Real-Time and Fault-Toler-ant Systems, Real-Time Systems: Specification, Verifica-tion and Analysis and Digital Republic: India’s rise to IT power.
