Ruka Nordic is again World Cup start for the Cross Country skiers and Nordic Combined athletes. With Ski Jumping these three disciplines will have eleven world cup competitions as “Nordic Opening” together in Ruka. Ruka is hosting world cup opening-event now 16th time. First time ever we have three days “Ruka Tour” with Nordic Combined. “Ruka Triple” is now in program sixth time, as starting first time on 2010. This year there´ll be over 400 competitors from 33 countries, which means that 2017 Ruka Nordic is the biggest event for us in our 16 years history. Ski Jumping has this year team event and individual competition. This season’s highlight is Olympic Games in Korea, Pyeongchang. Many teams “are running” fast to get best capacity out from skiers and jumpers when time is right in Olympic arenas. We hope that Ruka Nordic event get good start to season for every one! Ruka is in the border of Lapland and will therefore share the Lappish atmosphere with its unique nature and its icons reindeer and Santa Claus. We wish good luck and fair play during the intensive event weekend and hope that all of you are able to enjoy the white scenery.

The Accreditation Office checks the required information. The Cross Country coaches and officials are accredited with FIS Season Accreditation CC and the Cross Country competitors with bibs according to the FIS instructions. Other teams (ski Jumping and Nordic Combined) will be accredited with the organisers accreditation. Accreditation is handled by Loop 8 / Gate Accreditation System. Security guards are following the access. The accreditation card must always be visible when you are in competition area. If you lose your accreditation card, immediately contact to accreditation office. Team captain’s meetings, draw and entries The chief of race is responsible for the TC meetings. All meetings will be held at Media Centre, 2nd floor of the Conference Centre of Ruka. The meetings will be held: Thursday 23.11. 17.00 Friday 24.11. 19:00 Saturday 25.11. 17:30 After the sprint qualification the team captain’s meeting will be held after the results are ready. The meeting place is situated on the tent at stadium behind the finish area. The language used is English. As to other languages, the team attaché will interpret. The minutes of those meetings will be written in English and will be available at the competition office. Entries Entries for the first event (sprint) must be made through FIS online Entry system at the latest two hours before the first TCM which will be held on Thursday 23.11. at 17.00. That is in same time the entry for the whole FIS Cross Country Multistage (3 days) World Cup in Ruka. After the draw the start list will be copied and they will be distributed to the participants after the meeting. The trainingbibs will be distributed straight after the team captain’s meeting at the competition office. Competitionbibs will be distributed before the transponders at starting area. The bibs for the sprint semifinals will be distributed at the team captain’s meeting, which will be held after the sprint qualification. The ski courses used in the competitions are indicated on the course maps. Ski testing, training/warm up tracks Ski testing is allowed to do on competition track from the tunnel (under road) to the south part of track (Impilinna). On Saturday warming and cooling can be done on the competition track from the tunnel to pump station on the left side of track. It will be marked by boards and branches. Testing on the competition courses is strictly forbidden by using tecnical equipments. To the start, the route used is the following: from the service area along the road to front of the stadium building and from there to behind of the finish area. Access to the centre of the stadium is allowed for the competitors and one service member per team with wearing a bib. Service area The ski service area is located near the stadium. Service area is fenced. To fenced area is allowed to enter only by using accreditation bibs. Car parking is on RukaTonttu parking area. Cars that are parked wrong will be towed away. Service area will be locked during the nights (from 20:00 to 06:00). If you need to go to service area during that time, please contact Mr. Jari Pitkänen tel. +358 50 5604 331. The service cabins of the ski teams, ski suppliers as well a service building are also there. There is a tent for athletes to change clothes and for rest.

Official training of Cross Country Thursday 23.11. 10.30-11.30 (sprint C) The competition courses will be closed daily five minutes before the start of each skiing event. Fastening the transponders The place of fastening transponders is located in the immediate vicinity of the start area. On arrival to the place of fastening transponders the competitors must wear the bib. Fastening of transponders will be at the back of the start area. . Weather reports service Weather boards in the finish and service area will show the air and snow temperatures. Temperature measurements are taken at the Stadium and along the course at the highest and lowest points. The measurements are taken at half hour intervals so that the first measurement is taken 2 hours before the first competitor starts and the last one hour after the start of the first competitor.
