Power: Automotive batteries supply 12 Volts DC – also written 12V DC (like what you get from the cigarette lighter socket) , this needs to be converted from 12V to 19VDC (The PC input Voltage) via DC to DC convertor (it converts 12V to 19V). Now the challenge is some vehicles have 24 VDC or 48 VDC – so converter needs to change 48 or 24 VDC into 19VDC.

Power Supplies: There are 3 main types, internal, external and isolated. Some forklift trucks are battery powered, when the fork lift truck is being used the voltage supply to the PC can be unstable, in order to prevent anydamage please use the isolated version – please read the separate guide to power.

External Antennas: If a good Wi-Fi, 3/4G or GPS signal is required it is advisable when mounted in any vehicle to use external antennas - they are fixed outside the vehicle and greatly improve the signal strength.
