MADRID BARBARIANS R.F.C. NEWSLETTER NUMBER 4. APRIL 2013

It was just not possible. Our hopes for playing the first division promotion play-off were dependent on our winner takes all match against Cisneros, but this time it was Cisnero’s time.

What happened against a team we beat 42 - 26 in the first round of matches? Probably, on this day they played better, that’s all. As rugby players and sportsmen, we congratulated them and wished them all the best for their promotion play-off, but as you can see in the picture, our first feelings of frustration turned into a sense of “pride” when we realized that we had put in an extraordinary performance during our first season in the second division. Thank you! To everybody involved in it: players, coaches, executive board, committee members, sponsor and of course the supporters who have been coming to watch the matches and those around the world who have followed

anxiously through Twitter and Facebook.

It’s the end of the league, but not the end of the season. We’ve still got great events and friendly matches ahead to have fun and enjoy rugby without pressure. The first event coming up is the “Barbarians North Conquest Tour” to Navarra and the Basque Country with some people returning from their Barbarian exile like Angus, Jas or Miyagi. If you

want to know all about the tour... GO on it, don’t expect to read it in next month’s “Rucking”, because as you probably know by now “what happens on tour, stays on tour”.

We’ve also got some friendly matches soon and the “Barbarians Sevens” on June 1st; a great chance to enjoy a proper rugby day out, with food, booze, music, friends and of course rugby. Join in with your friends, girlfriends, wives and children.

Heads up, there’s more to come
