Sample Concurrent vs. Virtual Schedule When students are learning from home, they will join the in person class for lessons with their teacher.

Initial return, virtual students may see additional asynchronous learning while we develop face to face structures with students.

Morning Meeting begins at 9AM - being in class on time will be important.

*We are finalizing schedules for all grades and teachers will share before return.

All grade levels will not eat lunch at the same time.

Concurrent Instruction - What is it?

Page 21: RTS Proposed Timeline/Consideration for Return Daily

Let’s watch Ms. Haft in a concurrent greeting with her virtual and face to face students.

You may notice Ms. Haft’s voice is coming over a speaker system.

She is wearing a lavalier mic that will project in her classroom overhead speakers and allows her to come across more clearly.

Students speaking from home will project through the Meet Up Camera at the front of the room.

I believe the slides from a January meeting with the Superintendent indicated some autonomy by the schools to make decisions. How much autonomy does Chesterbrook have to decide on return to school?

In regard to positive cases and need to quarantine

Where is Chesterbrook in terms of staffing versus the number of families who chose hybrid? Do we as a school have enough staff to support in-person learning.

We are in great shape with teachers supporting students face to faceWe will have enough support for in-person learning (Student Return Ratio - 72.5% Face to Face; 27.5% Virtual)

After so many return-to-school plans being presented, starting from July 2020, with each one being retracted, can you address how we parents and students can continue to have trust in FCPS and the leaders of the school system? It is very disheartening for the kids to get excited about going back to school, only to have it taken away time and time again. Are we really going back, for my kids, March 16?

QuestionsHow are the cohorts being determined?

Primarily A-K (Tuesday/Wednesday) and L-Z (Thursday/Friday)We have worked with parents if we need to shift across days.

What is the plan to help kids be at the level they need to be to progress in school? What is the plan to have children catch up from the learning loss over the last year?

Assessments to monitor reading and math progress throughout the yearSmall group supports, Summer Academic Support, Summer Quest

What are the investments in resources to help kids grow academically once the school goes back and you have a sense of where kids are?

Enhancing building to be mitigate risk of illness (will support school through future)Technology Resources to support face to face and virtual learningSummer Quest Planning in progress

What are the investments being made on teachers (training, hire, etc)? Professional Development is ongoingStaff, Team and Individual Professional Development in Tools and Instructional PracticesMany academic interventions have been offered virtually with opportunity for IAs and teachers to grow
