The solution scales from a single laptop installation or an R&S®Freerider 4 backpack setup for walk tests to larger Benchmarker II multi-CPU systems with up to 32 devices.

Technology support ranges from 5G NR and LTE to 3G, 2G, NB-IoT/LTE-M and TETRA. Support of the latest gener-ations of chipsets ensures full network testing features as soon as the devices become available.

Boosting efficiency in collecting dataThe web based user interface of R&S®SmartONE, in com-bination with SmartMonitor, allows real-time monitoring of ongoing campaigns as well as the ability to remotely take control of test equipment. This allows experts in the office to remotely assist engineers in the field. Test results as well as all RF data information is reported back to the expert in the office in real time, providing all necessary data to analyze the true network situation. Easy operation and a high degree of flexibility for fast and efficient data collection is achieved through various R&S®SmartONE functionalities, such as automatic channel detection (ACD). An intuitive user experience is achieved through the interface that can adapt to the user’s level of knowledge. Predefined workspaces and views make the tool immedi-ately ready to execute any task across various use cases.

Highly reliable campaign execution The R&S®SmartONE software allows users to seamlessly configure one or more systems to complete various advanced testing scenarios, for example the setup of a voice call test between two independent systems located in two different vehicles and connected via a secure and encrypted connection. R&S®SmartONE makes the configuration of such complex tasks very quick and efficient. A robust and automated pretest check offers an additional efficiency boost since it prevents user and configuration errors. During a drive test, turn-by-turn navigation instructions, including system status informa-tion, guide the driver on the planned route. With all these features in place, R&S®SmartONE offers the lowest redrive rate in the industry.

Fast results through sophisticated data analysisR&S®SmartONE helps users reach insightful conclusions during the measurement data collection phase or dur-ing replay. The collected data can be analyzed in various ways, either on one of the many predefined views or simply by plotting the wide range of parameters onto one of the configurable views: line charts, scatter plots, table views, grid views, statistical tools, or a map with BTS lists. A s ignal analyzer allows acquired signals to be manipulated, analyzed in depth and further processed, using customized formulas and algorithms to create user-specific composite signals. Analysis of RF measurement signals in combination with layer 3 and in addition to pre-defined views for technology analysis (such as 5G NR beamforming) empower the user to perform a fast and in-depth analysis of the data. Built-in statistics for KPIs provide a fast overview of the tested network.

FLEXIBILITY AND SCALABILITY FROM SMALL TO LARGEReady for all test environmentsR&S®SmartONE is versatile and flexible control software that masters all mobile network testing environments, from the lab to engineering and optimization to large-scale benchmarking – for drive test campaigns and indoor walk tests.

For the lab and engineering environment, R&S®SmartONE supports prototype devices, modules and CPEs with di-agnostic ports. It can verify both network and device fea-tures before these products are released to the market. For efficient network verification and optimization, advanced capabilities such as technology, band and cell locking are supported as is the generation of real-time results. Large-scale benchmarking campaigns require a sophisticated campaign configuration mechanism that ensures synchro-nization among all involved channels.

R&S®SmartONE fulfills all these requirements in a single tool.

Wide range of hardware supportR&S®SmartONE supports a wide range of Rohde & Schwarz MNT hardware, including a multi-CPU based Benchmarker II chassis to support large numbers of devices, a vehicle roof box and test device contain-ment modules (TCM) to measure accurately without compromising device performance, and R&S®TSMx drive test scanners and the R&S®Freerider 4 backpack.

Having only one software tool to manage and control all these hardware options decreases the amount of training needed and makes all users masters of all tools.

Master the indoor challenge Data collection is possible not only on the road but also indoors. R&S®SmartONE together with the R&S®Freerider 4 backpack offers a powerful setup for measuring in airports, train stations, shopping malls, pedestrian zones and trains.

R&S®SmartONE supports indoor mapping floor plans based on iBwave, jpg or any ad-hoc picture taken with the controlling tablet’s built-in camera. Pinpointing the indoor position is as easy as a finger tap, and the undo function helps remove accidentally set positions.

WIDE RANGE OF TECHNOLOGIES AND TESTSMore value from testing with smartphones With R&S®SmartONE, tests can be executed directly on smartphones using the devices’ native software, even on commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) devices with an open trace port.

In addition, rooted and fully integrated QualiPoc Android smartphones can be connected to R&S®SmartONE, enabling another level of testing, including speech quality based on SQUAD and POLQA standards. Application test-ing using standard Android apps or enabling advanced forcing, which is an important task in the area of opti-mization and troubleshooting, is also possible. These test results using a real device reflect the true end-user experience.

R&S®SmartONE makes unique use of the R&S®TSMx drive test scannersThe smart automatic channel detection (ACD) feature eliminates the need to set up channel lists prior to a measurement campaign. The measurement system dynamically identifies new channels and adds them to the workspace during the drive. This is particularly relevant in networks deployed in a shared spectrum with other cellular standards, where channel frequency and channel

bandwidth repeatedly change. This feature is also fully capable of identifying and displaying channels where dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) is active.

BTS position estimation is a unique feature that esti-mates the geographic position of base stations and their sector direction. In a benchmarking campaign, data on BTS locations is useful to assess the network density and capacity. In cases of interference due to wrong use of spectrum, for example in case of cross-border overspill, the BTS position is helpful in troubleshooting and opti-mization. When combined with time of arrival measure-ments, insightful information on frame synchronization can easily be obtained.

Smart automatic channel detection with R&S®TSMx scanner

For public safety networks, R&S®SmartONE provides measurements on the TETRA air interface as well as QoS measurements with test mobile phones for troubleshoot-ing and network optimization. R&S®SmartONE effectively helps operators transition their TETRA networks to LTE or 5G by supporting all three technologies in one tool.

The internet of things (IoT) is driving the connected world. Assuring its network quality is of great importance. R&S®SmartONE in combination with an R&S®TSMW,

R&S®TSME6 or R&S®TSMA6 scanner enables IoT mea-surements in both NB IoT and LTE-M networks.
