Tie the knot on board RRS Discovery

This beautifully restored ship lies in the heart of Dundee’s waterfront.

Launched in 1901 as the world’s first ship specifically built for Antarctic

exploration, RRS Discovery is a truly unique venue for your wedding

ceremony and reception.

The stunning panoramic views over the River Tay combine with a sense

of history to ensure you have a truly memorable day and provide a

spectacular backdrop for wedding photographs.

Let us help make your dream wedding come true on board one of the world ’s great

historic ships, and ensure that you have memories to cherish and last a lifetime.

Ceremonies can take place at any time aboard RRS Discovery, and although the ship

will remain open to the public, the area for the wedding will be closed off during the

ceremony to ensure privacy.

Dedicated Wedding CoordinatorEach bride and groom is assisted by a dedicated Wedding

Coordinator, who is available every step of the way, from the

original viewing to follow up visits and on the day support.

The Coordinator can recommend suppliers and assist with

every detail.

Whether you have already thought of everything, or are

looking for ideas, we can help with the details – easing the

pressure and keeping you on course for the big day.

As part of our service we invite brides and grooms to visit in

advance with their photographers to ensure that they can plan

the most beautiful images.

The Ceremony

The Wedding Breakfast

We are licenced for both religious and civil ceremonies and these can be held on the

Main Deck where you can have up to 80 guests; the Bridge which seats 30; or the

Wardroom for a much more intimate experience. After the ceremony, the Bride and

Groom will sign the register in the ship’s Chartroom while their guests can have a

glass of fizz on the main deck.

At Discovery Point our main function room is perfect for your Wedding Breakfast

and seats up to 100 for dinner and can cater for up to 150 for an evening reception.

Our exceptionally experienced catering team will work with you to create the perfect

menu for your party and all you have to do is sit back and enjoy your special day.
