THE WESTIN OTTAWA HOTELOntario, Canada
RRA was responsible for a five phase design, renovation of the first four floors and cellar of the Westin Ottawa Hotel. RRA transformed the massive interior spaces into welcom-ing centers of activity by reconfiguring the hotel’s main lobby, lobby bar, restaurant and porte-cochere.
RRA’s design required removal of a portion of the second floor to create a double story storefront with marble and glass entrance that looks in on an enlarged three-story atrium. A 14 ft. wide 36 ft. tall fireplace made from backlit alabaster and sculpted mahog-any hangs from the third floor ceiling masking a four level escalator. A new stair to the lower level was created and a laundry facility was converted into a conference center. Banquet facilities on the 4th floor were added onto the building's setback. Three custom crystal chandeliers and carpeting were designed by RRA for the lobby to enhance the atmosphere.

THE APPLE SOHO STORENew York, NY
Following its “think different” maxim, Apple Computer transformed a former post office in New York’s Soho into the first of its retail stores, creating a prototype for other Apple Stores around the world as well as new standards for retail design. The 18,000 sf interior is inviting, with its use of costume-designed glass features – a 15 ft. high staircase, a bridge and a 70-foot long skylight – echoes the iconic design sensibility of Apple products.
RRA was a member of the collaborative design group of Steve Jobs, Apple and Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. The Apple Store has garnered numerous accolades, including recogni-tion by The American Institute of Architects und Business Week for Design Excellence.

TRACY REESENew York, NY
Ronnette Riley Architect transformed this 2,200 sf space to mimic the sweeping curves of a woman’s body to reflect the soft feminine lines of Tracy Reese’s signature design style. New curved walls, shaped like an hourglass visually divide the space into two areas, cre-ating separate display areas. A new custom fuchsia resin cash wrap, custom curved stainless steel display rods and fixtures, cove lighting and central chandeliers further accentuate the space.

DAVIS WARSHOW SHOWROOMNew York, NY
Davis + Warshow, New York’s oldest and largest plumbing fixture distributor, hired Ronnette Riley Architect to design a 7,220 sf showroom and event space to became their flagship store. They were looking for a gallery feel, focusing not on brand recognition, as is the industry standard, but on the fixtures themselves. Most aspects of the showroom are adjustable and interchangeable in order to meet the needs of the changing fixtures and to allow for the flexibility needed to accommodate various size groups for events.

JOHN BARRETT SALONNew York, NY
RRA oversaw the initial construction of this 9,000 sf salon above the executive floors at Bergdorf Goodman’s. Our team assembled a set of construction drawings and sourced the materials necessary to implement London based designer David Collin’s interiors. We were subsequently engaged to design and expanded and rearranged the makeup and pedicure areas and bathrooms so the salon could accommodate a rapidly expanding client base.

RESTORATION HARDWAREBroadway, New York, NYRRA joined with Seaton Wilson Architects to restore the historic space in of Griffith Thomas’ Mortimer Building - one of the first commercial structures in the “Ladies Mile” Shopping district of Manhattan. RRA’s team designed the 16,408 sf interior retail space to conform to Restoration Hardware’s design standards while maintaining the original archi-tectural integrity of the historic building. To allow access to the additional retail space in the cellar, we designed a grand staircase that opens up the ground floor and provides a focal point.
Soho, New York, NYFor the second Restoration Hardware Store, RRA’s scope included restoring the origi-nal architectural details while updating and revitalizing the interiors. Across three stories, 16,000 sf breaks into 10,000 sf of merchandising space and 6,000 sf of stock.

THE COCA-COLA STOREFifth Avenue, NY
RRA designed the flagship retail space for one of the most recognizable brands in the world. The interior of the Fifth Avenue Coca-Cola store is distinguished by a 150 ft. illumi-nated path and undulating rays of red and white that invite visitors to experience the full length of the floor plan. The path works in conjunction with a monumental staircase, ter-razzo floors and custom merchandising elements designed from leather, birds-eye maple, glass and bronze - all of which reflect the dynamism, timelessness and global presence of the Coca-Cola brand.

NEW WORLD COFFEENew York, New Jersey & Pennsylvania
The design mandate was to create a prototype store that evokes the warmth and aroma associated with authentic espresso beverages. Materials such as bronze, stone, and cherry were used to establish this atmosphere. A green-gold backdrop was used to gen-erate an inviting warm glow, contrasted by cream colored walls and floor, and enhanced by the ambient lighting. Twenty-eight additional stores were designed by Ronnette Riley Architect in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania over the next two and a half years.
We designed a logo and graphic program that evokes traditional rituals associated with coffee-drinking: the globe rises from the triangle's horizontal boundary in a copper glow, surrounded by "rays" of steam. The idea of coffee is further implied through the use of earthy coffee colors in the logo's various applications.

NATIRAR SPAPeapack-Gladstone, NJ
RRA, working with designer Rockwell Group and a team of engineers, is responsible for all architectural design development, construction documents, details, coordination and execution of an $8.5 million, 25,000 sf sustainable spa building at the Club at Natirar. This new construction is part of a larger resort complex complete with hotel, banquet, sport-ing, restaurant and organic farm facilities sited on a 500-acre estate formerly owned by the King of Morocco. The spa building is sited on a promontory adjacent to the existing 1912 Manor House overlooking the north branch of the Raritan River and miles of lush green hill country. The program includes a full-service spa with 15 treatment rooms, whirlpool bathhouses, saunas, steam rooms and specialty showers as well as changing and locker facilities on the 19,000 sf lower level and a fitness gym, studio and beauty salon on the 6,000 sf of program on the upper level. The structure features a shallow-intensive green roof and an infinity-edge reflecting pool ending in a cascading waterfall. The water slices through two glass pavilions which are masked with floating cedar screens. The fitness club program extends seamlessly outdoors over the grass onto outdoor lounge areas paved with bluestone and with outdoor fireplaces. The spa is accessed through a minimal zinc-clad stair built into the reflecting pool. Construction is expected to be completed pending funding.

BRONX HALL OF JUSTICEBronx, NY
The 750,000 sf Bronx County Hall of Justice designed by Rafael Vinoly / DMJM Architects and located on a three block site, is part of the New York City Master Plan for New York’s Courts.
Ronnette Riley Architect’s responsibilities included space planning for the various pro-gram requirements, a sustainable interiors study, and specifying and designing furniture for these spaces. In a break from the traditional, the building is sleek and contemporary with glass curtain walls, terrazzo tile floor, metal details, perforating metal ceiling, and natural toned beech veneer. According the interior, furnishings, and mill work, are modern, with tapered forms, polished chrome detailing, natural wood finishes, and costume furniture including courtroom benches, conference tables and library furniture.
The program consists of seventy-two elements for Supreme and Criminal Court agencies, with 47 courtrooms and judges’ suites for the Supreme Criminal Court, a 645-seat jury assembly area, District Attorney offices, a law library, court facility offices for the NYPD, several contract agencies and the civic plaza that covers an underground parking struc-ture for 400 cars, is landscaped and occupied by the Jury Assembly Hall.

4 ACRESSouthwestern, USA
RRA was challenged to design a premier hotel and condominium development on a four-acre site for Starwood Capital Group. RRA was the design architect and collaborated with executive architect Mathes Brierre Architects to develop a program that would set a new standard for modern buildings in the southwest.
Utilizing the triangular shaped site, RRA designed two opposing curved structures to capture the views of a beautiful mountain. The program includes a private interior court-yard, sub-grade parking, ground floor retail, spa, bars, restaurants, ballroom and meeting spaces, 153 hotel rooms and 44 condo units. The multi-level Zen garden in the courtyard features a cascading two-story waterfall.
RRA carefully considered the unique ecosystem and climate and implemented the steps necessary to receive LEED certification for the project. The exterior envelope of the build-ing will feature glass, local flagstone, concrete, and metal. In addition, a metal louver system will reflect natural light into the interior spaces and at the same time, deflect solar heat gain. Large covered balconies will allow hotel guests to take advantage of the weather year round.
