REPORT OH GEOCHENICAL <SOIL> SURVEYS AMD PROSPECTIHG OH THE TACHE PROPERTY
OF CHAHPIOH BEAR RESOURCES LTD.
June, 1994 Seymour M. Sears
SUMMARY
The Tache Copper/Nickel Prospect is located on the north margin of the Revell Granitic Complex. Copper /Nickel mineralization on the property is hosted by a pyrrhotite bearing gabbro-diorite lens that occurs between the granitic complex and a belt of mafic volcanic rocks. The main showing was tested by eight drill holes in 1967. Results from only one hole were reported by the Ontario Geological Survey in 1971 (Sklanka). It included two intersections (10 feet of 0.77X Cu, 0.64X Ni; 12 feet of 0.90X Cu, 0.66X, Ni).
A weak geochemical anomaly in 'B-Horizon' soils was found to be associated with the Main Showing area. The true extent of the anomaly is limited due to swampy areas, sample coverage and local sandplain. Additional soil and rock sampling accompanied by detailed geological mapping is recommended prior to drill testing.

The Tache Property was acquired by Champion Bear Resources Ltd. in 1992. To date work has included a control grid, ground magnetometer and VLF-EM surveys. This report is a summary of the results from a soil sampling and prospecting program carried out in the immediate area of two reported copper-nickel occurrences.
The work was carried out by personnel of Sears, Barry and Associates Ltd during the period from May 15th to June 25, 1994. Soil samples were analysed by Bondar Clegg and Co. Ltd. of Ottawa, Ontario.
PROPERTY, LOCATION AMD ACCESS
The Tache Property is located approximately 50 kilometres east of Dryden, northwestern Ontario. It consists of two separate claim groups. The main prospect is located near the central part of Revell Township (G-1321). It is referred to in this report as the Tache West property and consists of 10 unpatented mining claims (Fig 2A) numbered as follows:
K 1144909 K 1161537K 1144910 K 1161536K 1144911 K 1161539K 1144912 K 1161540K 1144913 K 1161551
The Basket Lake Forest Access road passes through the property, approximately 3 km north of Highway 17.
The second occurrence is located near the southwest corner of Hyndman Township (G-1314). It is referred to as the Tache East property and consists of 7 unpatented mining claims (Fig 2B) numbered as follows:
K 1161544 K 1161548 K 1161545 K 1161549 K 1161546 K 1161550 K 1161547
Highway 17 passes through the southeast corner of this claim group.
WORK BISTORT
A brief history of the work completed on these properties is presented in earlier reports for Champion Bear Resources Ltd (Petak, 1992). In summary it has included trenching and diamond drilling in 1967, Regional geological mapping by the O6S (Saterly, I960) and ground geophysical surveys on behalf of Champion Bear in 1992 (Petak, 1992).

BEGIOML AHD PROPEBTT GEOLOGY
The Tache Copper/Nickel Prospects are located on the north margin of the Revell Granitic Complex, near its contact with a sequence of Archean mafic volcanic rocks. It is generally considered that copper/nickel mineralization in both the Tache East and Tache West properties occurs within a lens of gabbro-diorite that is sandwiched between the granitic batholith and basaltic flows. The host gabbro-diorite is medium to coarse grained, dark greyish black, consisting mainly of plagioclase, hornblende, biotite, pyroxene, and local quartz.
1994 PBOGBAM
The work program involved prospecting and soil sampling over selected areas of existing grids on the two properties. This involved the collection by grub-hoe of 250 'B-Horizon' soils and fourteen days of methodical prospecting.
Tache East
The prospecting program involved systematic traversing of the Tache West grid accompanied by fill in traverses in areas of outcrop. Approximately 80 samples were collected and geologically classified. Efforts were directed towards identifying the trend and orientation of the host unit. Several old shafts and pits were located in areas underlain by sheared mafic rocks with associated barren quartz veins. The data is presented on Hap 1A.
One hundred and fifty soils were collected over two east- northeast trending zones defined from earlier ground magnetometer surveys. The survey data (Map IB) shows a number of scattered anomalous Cu and Zn values within a. general trend extending parallel to the inferred geological trend (east-northeast) from 225 S, L 200 W to 25 N, L-200 E. The highest values were from a sample taken at 50 N, L-050 W (138 ppm, Cu and 99 ppm, Ni). This sample and an adjacent sample (75 N, L 050 W) suggest a possible northwest trend. However, further sampling in this area, along with detailed mapping.
Tache Eaat
On the Tache East property three days were spent prospecting in three different areas to determine the nature of the targets. The limited data is presented on Map 2A. One day was spent in the area of the original East Showing. Copper and Nickel are hosted here by a similar gabbro-diorite to the Main Showing on Tache West. The mineralization is sparse, although the favourable rocks are relatively extensive. Ninety four (94) soil samples collected in this area (Map 3B, Area A)., designed to cover a moderate magnetic 'high' anomaly, defined only a weak southeast trending pattern of scattered anomalous Copper/Nickel. The highest sample on the grid was at 150 S, L 1500 E.
A gold showing was examined on adjoining ground in the northwest part of the claim group (Map 2A) . In thi» area a northwest trending zone of sheared mafic rocks hosts quartz veins with erratic gold values. The veining is up to 2 metres across with an envelope of ankerite and associated sulphides. Sulphides along with minor tourmaline are also scattered through the quartz. The zone was traced into swampy ground in both the north and south directions. An east west soil line (six samples) was sampled (Hap 3B,.Area B) with only background gold values.
A similar vein thought to be the southeast extension of the above prospect was located near 500 N, L 25OO E and again near 200 N, L 2700 E. In the latter area, as well as off the property to the southeast, this quartz-ankerite vein system is up to 10 metres wide.
Twenty samples have been selected for assay, but results are not yet available.
COHCLUSIOBS AMD BECOHMEHDATIOBS
The 1993 geochemical and prospecting program at the Tache Copper/Nickel Property of Champion Bear Resources indicates that the most promising mineralization occurs on the Main Prospect area on the Tache West claim group. Further soil sampling combined with detailed mapping and rock sampling in this area is likely to result in the definition of a worthy drill target.
On the Tache East property, weak copper/nickel mineralization near the Baseline at L 1300 E should also be further evaluated by rock sampling and detailed mapping. The quartz vein system in the eastern part of this claim group should be followed up with detailed sampling and mapping if analytical results from the recent prospecting program warrant.
Should results continue to be encouraging, a stripping program followed by diamond drilling will be required.
