  • INTRODUCTION

The following report will deal with the results of a preliminary mapping program carried out on the Massey Township Property. The property is made up of a single unpatented block (16 units) mining claim, located in Massey Township, Porcupine Mining Division, Ontario. This work was carried out by one of the property owners, Pierre Maillet. A total of 19.2 km of grid lines were established to cover several AEM conductors shown to occur in the area. The first phase of this program involved reconnaissance mapping. This was done in an attempt to get an idea as to the geological environment of the area. A total of 5 days were spent mapping the property during the month of September, 1999

  • LOCATION AND ACCESS

The Massey Township Property is located within the north-central portion of Massey Township, Porcupine Mining Divisioa The property is situated approximately 35-km. West form the city of Timmins, Ontario. The claim lies just west of the Kamiskotia River.

Access to the property during the work period was gained by taking Hwy 101 West form the city of Timmins to the Mallet Lumber Road. This gravel road heads in a westerly direction and crosses the Kamiskotia River at approximately the 30-km point. From here the property was accessed by boat via the Kamiskotia River. A 3km boat ride north on the Kamiskotia River will bring one to within 100 meters of the #4 post of the subject claim. From here a trail was cut into the southeast corner of the grid

    PREVIOUS WORK

This is the first phase of a work program being carried out by the current claim holders. Previous exploration programs carried out in the general area by a number of Juniors and Senior mining companies have focused primarily on base metal exploration. The AEM conductors that are the focus of this work program have never been tested with diamond drilling.

  • CLAIMS

The Massey Township Property is made up of a single, 16 unit unpatented mining claim numbered #1226481, which is situated within the north-central portion of Massey Township (G- 296), Porcupine Mining Division. The recorded claim holders are as follows; Pierre Maillet 34*^0, Denis Laforest 33*^ and Doug Lalonde 3307o.

    WORK PROGRAM

The initial phase of the work program to be carried out on the Massey Township Property involved establishing 19.2 km of chainsaw cut grid lines set up to cover a number of untested AEM conductors. The next step was to cover the grid with a preliminary mapping program in an attempt to locate and sample any outcropping within the grid area This was intended to provide information that might help in determining what type of underling geological environment is present.

Based on the results of the preliminary mapping, a geophysical program will then be set-up.

  • SURVEY RESULTS

The results obtained from the preliminary mapping failed to show the presence of any bedrock exposure. The majority of the grid is covered by low-lying spruce/tamarack and alder swamp. Some higher spruce and poplar ridges are present along the east and west boundaries of the grid, but no outcrop was observed in these areas.

    RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS

As described under results, the preliminary mapping has show that there is no outcropping within the grid area. As a result, a geophysical program consisting of magnetometer and VLF-EM surveys is currently underway. Should the overburden depth or composition be such that the VLF-EM surveys does not effectively outline the AEM conductors of interest, a HLEM survey will then be carried out. When this next phase of exploration is completed, all the available data will be compiled and if warranted, any areas of interest can then be tested with diamond drilling.
