RPO CELEBRATES BEATLES 50th ANNIVERSARY Classical Mystery Tour at CMAC July 20th

Rochester, NY – Celebrate the Beatles’ 50th

anniversary with your Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra

(RPO) at Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center (CMAC, 3355 Marvin Sands

Drive, Canandaigua, NY 14424) on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 6 p.m. Classical Mystery Tour: Music of

the Beatles with the RPO will feature the world-renowned tribute band performing more than two dozen

Beatles hits – sung and played exactly as they were recorded. Tickets range from $15 lawn seats (two free

lawn tickets for kids under 18 with each adult ticket purchased) to $49 table seats, and will go on sale

this Friday, March 7 at noon via Ticketmaster (ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000), or the Blue Cross

Arena Box Office (One War Memorial Square or 585-758-5330).

Classical Mystery Tour is much more than just a rock concert featuring four musicians who look and

sound just like the Fab Four. From early Beatles music through the solo years, audiences hear "Penny

Lane" with a live trumpet section, experience the beauty of "Yesterday" with an acoustic guitar and string

quartet, and enjoy the rock/classical blend on "I Am the Walrus."

Classical Mystery Tour features Jim Owen (John Lennon) on rhythm guitar, piano and vocals; Tony

Kishman (Paul McCartney) on bass guitar, piano and vocals; David John (George Harrison) on lead

guitar and vocals; and Chris Camilleri (Ringo Starr) on drums and vocals. Martin Herman, who

transcribed the scores note-for-note from Beatles recordings, will conduct. The Los Angeles Times called

the show "more than just an incredible simulation...the swelling strings and soaring French horn lines

gave Saturday's live performance a high goose-bump quotient...the crowd stood and bellowed for more."

Classical Mystery Tour also opened the RPO’s 2012-13 Pops Season with its Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts

Club Band concert and Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik last September.

“All of us at the RPO are excited to be returning to Canandaigua for three concerts at CMAC this

summer, including this always-popular Beatles show, our annual Salute to America on July 3rd and The

Ben Folds Orchestra Experience on July 22nd

,” says RPO President and CEO Charles Owens “These

concerts – in addition to other events we’ll be announcing soon – will bring our orchestra to a wider and

more diverse audience than ever this summer.”
