NEWS FROM YOURDIRECTOR

The Downtown Merchants Association is going to hold

a meeting on Thursday, June 4 at 9am at The Well Coffee

Lounge in downtown Royse City. This group was formed in

order to support local business, create ways to bring attention

to our Historic downtown, to help with renovation projects

in our city and more.

We would like for anyone who is interested in helping in these

areas and has a desire to see our community keep its local

flair, please join us! You do not have to be a business

owner to participate.

Thank you to Kari Hollifield with Keller Williams Realty for

hosting our May Business After Hours aka Thirsty Thursday.

It was held at the beautiful Holiday Builders model home in

Verandah subdivision. We all had a great time talking, shar-

ing, eating, drinking and pretending we lived there. Be sure

to join us this month on June 18th at Primary Care Associ-

ates new facility, 6257 FM 2642 (near Verandah subdivision).

Hosted by National Senior Care and Royse City Health and

Rehabilitation Center.

The 8th Annual Main Street Car Show was held

Saturday, May 9th. It was a great showing of vehicles,

despite the questionable weather! Thanks to all those

owners who braved the forecast! Also, many thanks to

our sponsors, volunteers, and spectators who made it

successful!

Planning is already underway for

the Chamber’s largest event of the

year – FunFest – which is taking

place Saturday, October 17th. This

is a full day of Vendors, Entertain-

ment, Contests, Food, Rides, and

more. Of course we also hold the

Annual RunFest 5k and Microfest

Beer Festival which both benefit a local charitable

cause. Last year we were able to present checks to

the Downtown Merchants Association to help with

restoration of the Old Historic Jail, as well as checks

to the Royse City Animal Shelter and Our Daily Bread

Food Pantry.

If you want to be on one of the most fun committees

around, then we could use you on June 28th at 6pm when

we will meet at Mellow Mushroom in Rockwall to go over

plans for this year’s Microfest. Ask anyone who helped with

or attended our inaugural event last year and they will tell

you it was definitely something we need to keep bringing

back every year. If you have any questions about how it all

works, contact Event Manager Daynor Stinson

at [email protected]
