ROYSE CITY....ALIVE AND WELL IN 2015!by Julia Bryant
Royse City is continuing to thrive and we’re happy that you
are a part of it. I’m sure you’ve seen the progress that is being
made on the Erby Campbell overpass, and as promised,
Wal-Mart has broken ground. With that addition there will
be many businesses vying to occupy the pad sites around
that area. This will mean a big boon to our economy and
conveniences for our citizens.
We want to remind you, however, that our Main Street will
still be alive and well. The shops, restaurants, pharmacy and
offices are all ready to continue to bring a level of charm
and professionalism to our community. Just because “big
box” comes to town doesn’t mean that our traditional roots
are going to disappear.
The Royse City Main Street Program continues to bring
quality events downtown and the Historic Downtown
Merchants Association also makes sure improvements
are taking place to preserve its character.
If you haven’t taken time to visit lately, we think you should
come see what you are missing. Maybe you can join us for
our Go Red event on February 5 at The Well Coffee Lounge.
(see attached invitation). We know you will be glad you did!

COMMUNITY CALENDAR is here for you! Visit www.roysecitychamber.com/calendar/ for up to date information on local events. You may also place your local event on the calendar by
sending your information to [email protected] with the Subject Line “Community Calendar”
The Meadows was introduced to us in June of 2014 as the
site of a mixed-use master plan community that will feature
recreation, retail, office, health care, housing and school on
approximately 170 acres in the northeast part of the city.
Gaurav Biswas, one of three leading principals of The
Meadows of Royse City LLC based in Addison, expressed
excitement with plans to develop The Meadows in “this very
friendly community.” He stressed that The Meadows will be
much more than another mixed-use real estate development.
“It will be a thriving mini-metropolis within Royse City
and drive growth of business and commerce, along with
creating local jobs and attracting superior skills into the
community,” said Biswas, president and chief executive
officer of Fruit Capital LLC. “We envision The Meadows
to put Royse City on the regional map for growth,
entertainment and business. The development will
act as a catalyst to further improve the historic town
center and surrounding businesses.
It’s time to start thinking about our committees for 2015
and we want you to jump on board with us! With the events
growing larger, our team also needs to expand and bring us
some fresh ideas and enthusiasm. The only requirement is a
desire to help bring fun, exciting events to the area that will
benefit our community and non-profits.
Our Golf Tournament will be 15th; the Silent Auction &
Casino Night is August 7 and the 26th Annual FunFest is
October 17. There will also be sub-committees for RunFest
and Microfest which also take place on October 17th.
E-mail me to be put on the volunteer list and for more
information! [email protected]

Hofmeister Auctions running the sale. Funds raised are
typically donated to a different charitable cause each year.

MEET YOUR TEACHERStephen Carpenter
8th grade English Language Arts teacher at Royse City Middle School
To begin with, let me take this
opportunity to thank the Royse
City Chamber of Commerce for
recognizing me with this honor.
If there’s one thing I know, it’s
that Royse City ISD is filled with
amazing, talented, and innovative
teachers, so to be the one
selected for Teacher of the Month, I am truly humbled
and grateful. In fact, as one of four related Carpenters
working in Royse City ISD, my first question upon being
notified was, “Are you sure this was meant for me and
not one of my parents or wife?”.
I come from a long legacy of teachers including a
grandmother, mother, father, sister, uncle, 2 aunts, a
brother-in-law, and then of course, I married one, too.
It’s kind of the family business, I guess you could say.
So, I suppose it is fitting that I look at RCISD as part
of my family, too. I’ve taught in other districts under
other superintendents, and I can say with all honesty
that none have come close to comparing to what I have
come to love about this district. The vision we have for
the future of teaching in this community, actually being
treated as an important part of that vision, and the
warmth, acceptance, and genuine caring our leadership
has for its employees, from Kevin Worthy on down make
us second to none.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech
University (Wreck ‘Em Tech!) and received my teaching
certification from Texas A&M-Commerce. I have been
teaching for eleven years now; six teaching history, and
five teaching reading. Currently, I serve as an 8th grade
English language arts and reading teacher, campus
technology integration coach, and a proud part of the
inaugural Royse City ISD Digital Fluency Academy. This
spring, I plan to begin work on my master’s degree in
educational leadership, with the hope of serving Royse
City ISD some day in an administrative capacity.
Our sweet Brice is still looking for a loving home. He is a 1yr old neutered
male bull dog mix. He is very loving and gets along with other dogs, cats,
and great with kiddo’s. His adoption fee is $50.00 he will come with a
leash and collar, current on vaccinations, and new toys as well. For more
info on this sweet guy please contact Royse city animal control at
