Texas, we are ready for some warmth and time outdoors!

Good news is - you don’t have to fly south to enjoy a game

of golf on a beautiful, challenging course.

On May 15 we are excited to be returning to the scenic Twin

Lakes Golf Course in Canton, TX. Surrounded by a 1,000 acre

tree farm and designed around two serene lakes, you will fall

in love with the game all over again. This year we are starting

early with an 8:30am tee time. Lunch will be provided by

Chick-fil-A of Rockwall during the awards ceremony.

There will be added games with chances to win great

prizes, plus some surprise guests that will be participating.

Rockwall Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge will also be returning with

a beautiful car that you have the chance to win on the Hole

in One! They will also be providing our spectacular raffle

prize worth $500.

Please see the sponsor information and player registration

information at the end of this newsletter. We need

your support in order to continue providing the college

scholarships to our graduating high school seniors. Our

goal is to make the Ouida Baley Scholarship a stand-alone

so that we can add yet another scholarship in the future.

The March Chamber monthly luncheon was held at

Richard’s Smokehouse in Royse City, where we recognized

board nominees and heard from guest speaker Ken Thomas.

He asked members to think about how to be more concise

when explaining what they do and how they can help

their target audience. The Chamber also welcomed Travis

Wheat with the Mesquite Rodeo, Rachel Gilley with Trinity

Transcon, and Melanie Johnston with H&R Block with a

plaque presentation. A ribbon cutting ceremony was also

held for Jeff Schollmeyer with Power Shopper Magazine.

This year the Royse City Chamber has joined forces with the

Rockwall Chamber of Commerce to host Leadercast - the

largest convergence of leaders in the world – on May 8,

2015 at Utley Middle School in Rockwall. I have personally

attended this event and am looking very forward to

participating again this year. It is a once in a lifetime chance

to be “in the same room” with so many gifted, informative

and inspirational speakers!

businesses, organizations, and in homes across the world.

MEET YOUR TEACHERchristie watts

Royse City High School

Christie Watts is a veteran

educator with 24 years of

experience. With a B.A. in

English and Spanish and her

M.S. in Library Information

Science, Christie has taught

high school English, middle

school Spanish and Reading,

Elementary 4th & 5th grades and is now the Library

Media Specialist at Royse City High School. Not only is

she our librarian, but she coaches a UIL Academic Team

and is the National Honor Society co-sponsor. She has

an awesome ability to bring people together as a team

and her positive, can-do attitude is definitely worth

catching!

Mrs. Watts, our 2014-15 High School campus teacher

of the year, shares that she feels students learn best

in a warm, supportive, positive environment with the

expectation that each student will learn to the best of

their ability. “I strive for all teacher-student interactions

to be positive, striving to follow the Gold Rule and treat

everyone as I would like to be treated. Teaching is

the hardest and one of the most important jobs in the

world, but being an educator is something I have loved

and I don’t think I could have chosen another career

that would have given me as much joy as my years in

education has.”

Our sweet Mary with the gorgeous brown eyes would love for

you to come visit and take her home. Mary is up to date on

shots, spayed and her $50 adoption fee includes a new collar

with leash and toys to take home. For more info on how to
